you think aranada will have no spring? covid opt outs? players quitting? due to BLM? a HC that forced him to a 4-3 prematurely?

aranda, venables, muschamp, stoops are all good DC's not so much HC.

quit comparing anybody to the shite we went through during covid and BLM.

your take is idiotic.

Why is Baker leaving? Last year he turned down the HC job at Tulane, his alma mater. That was as good an opportunity as he could have expected to launch his career toward bigger and better opportunities.

Lots of coordinators get P4 jobs as a first time HC. That’s obviously what he’s waiting on.

He would have taken a pay cut to go to Tulane.

In a purely football sense, I don’t see Kiffin adjusting his personnel with a ton of interior DL to run Aranda’s 3-4.

Of course I’m sure Aranda could coach a 4-3.

It really is baffling how this board tries to think any rehire is a retread burnout hire. Aranda and Pellini situations have very little in common. One thing I always loved about Aranda is if it wasn't working, he had no problem redesigning it midseason. He always adjusted scheme to player strengths and he also did excellent in-game adjustments.

Baker is the opposite here. His soft shell scheme NEVER works in big games and he continues to go to the well in clutch time to lose us big games. You have 3 years of evidence to prove this.

I don't know if Kiffin would be interested in Aranda but I do know he doesn't exclusively run a 3-4 scheme. He has changed his alignment multiple times based on how his personnel looks. That said, NCAA has also evolved. If Baker could ever fix his 2 minute defenses he'd be a good DC.

Now I know LSU just put up nearly 600 yds on Auburns defense, but isn’t Durkin (I think that is his last name) their DC one of the best defensive minds in the college game right now? Should LSU go after him hard?

I remember a lot of guys on this board clamoring for him when we thought Baker was leaving this past offseason.

Yes, Durkin's defense have tended to be good. Auburn hasn't been good this year though. Not sure if that's personnel. Who's not going to get lashed by a Kiffin/Weiss offense? 2 weeks to prep for Bama they better be clutching their butts because whatever holes they have you can guarantee Kiffin has it pointed out already.

That's just modern NCAA ball. It favors offenses. Much harder to play defense now. People keep saying Texas setup for letdown. Muschamp is a notorious overly aggressive DC I'll bet Kiffin eats those blitz schemes alive.

Haven't we been burned enough with redos? Head coaches of college teams rarely want to go back to coordinators. When they are willing you have to ask,.....what? Can't find another HC job?

Don't know, but I'm certain this will be a weekly topic.

How about this for 2027?

DC: Dave Aranda
OC: Steve Sarkisian

If it were me, I’d throw a big check @ Bryant Haines. Young, tough DC.

We’ve run a 4-3 since Aranda left. Aranda is a 3-4 guy. Don’t have the personnel.
