Omg good thing we’ve never had to start a WR at QB in a bowl game before.

Salviati - good post of which most I agree. However, I don't think it's accurate to say now that we have the bulk of offense returning. We're gonna have to replace 4/5 OL, Taylor, Lacy, Daniels, and Williams.
You're right. LSU is certainly going to miss Campbell, Dellenger, Jones, and Taylor. I'd suggest that heir apparents exist on the roster for Lacy, Daniels, and WIlliams, but LSU will miss them too.

LSU has Nuss, Durham, Anderson, Hilton, Thomas, Green, Chester, Mubenga, Bordelon, and a bunch of lesser tested talent on the roster. But you're right, the bulk of the offense will be gone.

2020 5-5 Bowl Ban
2021 6-7 Texas Bowl

CBK Era
2022 #15 10-4 SECW / Citrus Bowl
2023 #12 10-3 ReliaQuest Bowl / Heisman Winner
2024 8-4 Texas Bowl

So, we missed a bowl and went .500, made a bowl and had our first loosing season in 20 years, but you are going to sit here and say we "are in the same spot"?

Some of ya'll are laughable.

We were so depleted in 2022 we had to play a WR at QB.

Imagine this program if we had kept Ed O as coach for the last 3 years. We'd be looking like Miss. State right now.

The game has changed completely since 3 years ago and if you are going to ignore that then go be a fan elsewhere. This program was heading down the shitter 3 years ago. Going 10-4, 10-3, and possibly 9-4 isn't the end of the world.

Everyone is trying to adapt in this new NIL goofiness. The difference is we get to do it in the hardest damn conference to play in.

This thread is dumb as frick.

You can believe that BK has underperformed, especially this season, while also recognizing that the program is in a better spot than it was after the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Is that true? I don’t think the Governor approves the coaching hires at LSU.

He appoints the board of supervisors, and can exert all of his political power to get his way.

Jindal kept Miles employed.

So it's either easy to win here or it's not. And if it's not, well we ran off two coaches that did win here.

You won the West and added a Heisman trophy to the cabinet

I would say you're much better off than 2 years prior to him being here

Although if he would have won two games this year, that we essentially kind of gave away. I don't even think anyone is asking this question because you're in the playoffs and probably the SEC championship game

Underachieved a little bit this year but overachieved the first year.

I'm going to add one more thing

Kelly and staff, boosters and bayou traditions, severely overestimated the importance of being at LSU, and are now realizing it's only about the money for some of these high profile kids

Hopefully they will start hitting on some of these now. Sadly, college football has become unkept free agency, and playing in a certain place doesn't hardly mean anything when you're talking about millions of dollars

You’re having a completely different argument/conversation than the OPs statement, which says absurdly we are in no different of a place as a program from now and when he took over which is just objective false.

Wait are you trying to lay the groundwork for the argument that we cut Miles and O loose too soon??

It’s completely besides the point of this conversation, but that’s just silly honestly. And two things can be true at once, those coaches can both have needed to be removed at the time of their firing, and BK can be considered for a disappointment so far

also I’d like to highlight the very simple fact that CFB is drastically different, and some would argue harder, than it was even 5 years ago. Yes a monkey could win with LSU football during the 2000-2020 era that will be looked at as the peak of both sport growth and team control. That same monkey would struggle to replicate that success in 2024, it’s essentially an entirely different sport.

The biggest difference is the amount of NIL money that is being thrown around to 17-18 year olds. That’s the biggest difference. Did you think Kelly was going to win the SEC west with that line up IDTS. STFU

.the only difference (Imo), Richt's players liked him and played hard /physical for him. Definitely doesn't seem to be the case for BK.

Where do you people get this shite from?? Our best two games were the two games AFTER our season for all reasonable purposes was over. If players hated Kelly how could that be???

The difference is we will finished 9-4 and ranked v 6-7.

Is missing the playoffs acceptable? No.
Are we in a much better position? Yes.

Good stuff popping up on the Rant.

The Mediocrity Loving Freaks are in panic mode and don't know what to do!

They're out in force, downvoting any and every "Intelligent" post and they're getting DV'ing help from all the cute little kids from the LSUAD that are being paid to "Tow the Company Line" for Dear Ole LSU..........

I don't think we're in the "same (exact) spot." However, there are some parallels that ought to raise concern. For example:
- playing in the same bowl game now as then
- will have to rebuild an OL (same as in '22)
- will have to rebuild the secondary (same as in '22)

It's also worth noting that '21 was played with a younger QB (mostly Max) than now and was itself a season of rebuilding after the Covid year. Point being, 6-6 then vs 8-4 now are not that different.

Ed was a lazy, low-character immature individual. But BK ain't putting a lot of distance between him and Ed yet.
