What? Are you still living off of 4 plays he made his freshman year, or are you living in the now?

Dude can't beat RBs on blocks. Was bodied this year on his blitz attempts. Go rewatch the Nicholls game and tell me you want a guy with one tackle.

If he doesn't come through clean on a blitz, he's a non factor.

Coaches need to stop holding him back

Let him rush the fricking QB like he’s supposed to

So if I am reading this place correctly, he can't rush the QB, is a non factor in the run game and shouldn't be in pass protection.

I mean, we need to process the guy right?

I would think the board would be pleased to have a player of this talent on the roster.

The concern is relative to the defensive scheme, design and specific deployment of Perkins by the coaching staff.

What kind of question is this? Perkins is one of the most talented players on the roster. Of course we want him to come back.

Why would anyone be against it. That would be ignorant.

Just curious do you think that’s all he can do? Because in 2023, he was one of the highest graded coverage LBs in the country. He didn’t make the individual highlighted plays as much but he did play well within the defense as a whole.

He’s so good at spying running QBs. We missed him.

Trim some weight, get his quickness and speed back a bit, and play him at Strong safety, in the style of Honey Badger.

I'd like to see him spend the summer in 7 on 7 drills covering our wide receivers … improved coverage skills would significantly improve his NFL stock (and be good for the Tigers).

It’s possible he wasn’t completely healthy when the season started. He could have already been nursing a knee problem before the more serious injury actually occurred.

Depends on how they are going to use him. Are they going to force him out there at off ball LB like they did last yr? If so then not good but are they going to use him more as an edge role great, if not edge are they going to ask him to lose about 10lb and play basically the strong safety and run a good bit of zone probably good too

This board was way too negative on Perkins. He's a tweener with size limitations, but he was almost created in a lab to be a QB spy/speed rusher/delayed blitzer. Early downs he should be an in the box safety, later downs blitzer from everywhere.

he will be welcomed by open arms if that is what he chooses. if he doesn't, we'll move on.

Go rewatch the 4th quarter of Ole Miss in 23. Focus on Perkins.

Then come back and tell me how he's "built in a lab" to rush the QB. Watch him get dominated by TEs and RBs and watch them audible to running AT Perkins because he either went wide to edge rusher or ran himself out of plays or, just was physically dominated.

I'll be that guy.

Depends on what it costs. He doesn't really have a position and his production doesn't warrant a huge payday to return. If the amount of $ it takes to get him back means losing out on a more proven commodity at a position of need, then I'm for ending the Perkins experiment.

Apparently you didn't read my post. He's built in a lab to speed rush and delay blitz. We completely agree he has issues holding up against the run, setting the edge, and bull rushing. People thought he could get up to 240 minimum and become a Parsons clone, but he's just not that body type.

I watched Ole Miss have no answer for him. Even Kiffin said that after the game. He was in Dart’s face every time he tried to pass

I guess you didn’t watch the game. That game is a really really bad example if you’re trying to make a point

What position would he come back at? If LB then no. If STAR or Safety then 100%
