I was watching the game with my father who is originally from Alabama and met my mom through the Air Force and he loved LSU more than anything else and I will never forget what he told me. He said son. If I die tomorrow my dream has come true. I got to watch LSU win a national title. Unfortunately my father passed away May 27th, 2004 and that night with him and I and my three sons watching the football game will live with me for eternity

I retell this every year for this thread!
I was 12 years old in the dome with my dad in a majority OU section.
My dad began hyperventilating as the final countdown began, with ppl thinking he was having a heart attack lol. He just said “I thought I’d never live to see this moment”! He even wore his late dad’s hat to the game so he could be there in spirit. I remember ppl telling me I’ll never forget this moment! Yea they’re right!
I also remember my dad and his best friend meeting up after on the ramps embracing in a bear hug both saying “I can’t believe this finally happened”!
Thank you Nick Saban for a memory so many of us thought would never happen!

Watching at a bar with my soon to be wife and a bunch of friends. It was wild.

What a memory. I couldn't believe we did it. Possibly best sports moment for me.

We were there!!! We got tickets through the season holder ticket lottery — think they had like 250 or 500 tickets and we got 2.
We were in the upper upper but I’ll never forget 1) how hot it was and 2) that final hit from Lionel Turner.
Edit: fun fact: season ticket holders got a vhs tape from the AD .. can’t remember if it was the game or a recap of the season but we did get it! Would never happen today lol.

I was many places throughout the day on January 4th that likely many of you were as well, but in the early morning hours of January 5th I was standing outside of Rick’s taking a picture with Stephen Peterman and Justin Vincent

I was resenting that so many New Orleanians who had never been to a single LSU game all had connections to tickets .

I was there in NOLA with my daughter who was an FSU student but lifelong LSU fan. We had flown in two nights earlier from Jacksonville.
We visited with some friends to tailgate.
It was a dream to be there and witness our first title since 58. I still have the Picayune poster they were selling outside the Dome that night.
Ran into some salty OU fans leaving the stadium.

I was there! Had seats halfway up in the upper deck so probably would have had a better view on TV but I wasn’t missing it.
I think I may have shed a tear or two at the end. Because being a Tiger fan back then, it just seemed like a national championship was never gonna happen, it felt like it was just out of LSU’s class. Then there it was - national championship. Never thought I would see it.
Somehow it still seems more special than the ones that followed, although I sure as hell wouldn’t give them back!
Then I think about the state of the game today when I have just about lost all interest. A pity.

My dad and our tailgating krewe decided to take some bleachers from our high school practice/soccer field and moved them into a garage for a watch party.
I sat in those bleachers in that garage and was in disbelief afterwards. Talked smack to one of my teachers the next day who said that Matt Mauck wasn't a championship QB.

When Lionel Turner saved Jason White I lost my mind. School was so great the next day. I grew up in Columbus, MS. Mostly State and Alabama fans. Being the only LSU fan in school, I couldn’t wait to wear my purple and gold all week. Haha
