Still not much of a sample size for this new era of transfer portal and NIL to know what a championship recipe looks like. Claiming to be the best in history is a bit hyperbolic given everything is still in its infancy and constantly evolving.

It’s not a claim. It’s the numbers. Look it up.
As far as a championship, nobody is claiming that or expecting it. You shouldn’t either.

I am looking at the numbers and they go back a whole 4 years. Guess what, next year some team will bring in 60 new players and they’ll have the best portal class in history!!!

Oline was the issue last year. BK went and got Moore, our best OL, but no one else for OL in the portal. LK went and got 4 new starting OL all good. Harper was projected RT for ole miss this year, we got the number 1 LT. got Moore to come back. And then Bah for the fifth spot who a nasty guard. And then he got two of the top 5 qb and was like I also need a third top 10 qb so got that. 9 new wr with each one being someone’s favorite. My favorite is Wilson followed by Watkins. He was able to keep berry and Durham and also get the depth by adding four other rb. That’s why we all are excited. D was be great this year with an offense to match

The biggest difference is how they went about it. Last year we loaded up on WR talent when we really needed OL. We also missed on a lot of the top talent last year. This year we got a lot of the highest rated players in the portal. Now, will it translate? That is he real question.

Secondly, last year wasn't a total bust. Delane and Haulcy were great, Gooden was solid, Pyburn was ok. The WRs were misses, but we got playing time out of 3 star Bauer Sharp (again, a 3 star, he wasn't supposed to be great) and 3 star Van Buren.

The portal class had some excellent players. It wasn’t a “bust”.
Delane was so good lsu went after his little brother. Delane will be a top 15 pick and should have won the Bednarick
Haulsey was excellent. He may be a late first round pick. Those 2 were the best DBs on a really good defense
Gooden was the best dlinemen they had. His injury hurt the defense.
Moore was such a bust that a priority of Kiffin was to get him back. He was the ONLY good olinemen lsu had worth his salt.
We don’t know how good Nick Anderson could have been because of a putrid coaching staff and oline. The entire set of receivers go from the most passing yards in the conference in 24 to that garbage in 25.
Was it the players in the class like Pyburn or Sharpe or was it the Oline that ruined the season due to putrid coaching?

Having a functional coach who is a die hard recruiter. CLK has been set off by the media pundits and outside running their mouth, that he is ready for blood, and this class proves it. I cannot wait for September.

We have a talent evaluation guy now that wants to coach and win. Last guy wanted to look good on paper and play golf .

... "next year" if someone brings in a haul like that, more power to them. But the odds of that happening are slim.
This isn't just the #1 "portal" class. This portal class moved the incoming LSU class to #1 overall (HS + portal). It's the first #1 incoming class in BR since Saban put one together in 2003.
