Most impressive thing he ever did was find the best OC we had in years sitting right under Les' nose as the TE coach. Then he subsequently decided E was too old and replaced him with Pootz

Two things. First, he doesn’t handle success well.
Second, he’s the kind of coach that can win with a full cupboard, but not do what it takes to fill an empty one.

Horrible timing of losing your entire defensive staff at the same time you lost a ton of talent and then you lose the off-season because of COVID-19.
If those 3 things happened to any other team going 500 in conference the next year would be considered awesome.

His entire premise was hiring the best assistants. The good assistants headed for greener pastures and he hired a bunch of numbskulls to replace them. Also losing arguably a top 5 NFL QB and two top 5 NFL receivers is a lot to overcome.

The only evidence you need to support the claim he's incompetent is this: there were at least 3-4 big time jobs open after 0 was fired mid season. Those programs had ZERO INTEREST in the hc of the greatest football team of all time that had occured just 2 years prior. That tells you all you need to know about coach 0.

He’s a fricking idiot and should have never been hired in the first place.

Some of you are a little too hard on him. After all he did win a national championship. You can call it the perfect storm but he did orchestrate it. Granted it fell apart pretty quickly.

Supported trump publically. From that point on woody was looking to make a change.

It was a house of cards to begin with. His success was always going to depend 100% on his ability, or lack thereof, to both recruit at an extraordinary level and hire and retain elite coordinators. He was fortunate to inherit Dave Aranda and we paid him what would be head coach money at most places to keep him. He struck gold in hiring Brady - his role in hiring Brady has been argued about ad nauseum, not worth getting into. He did a good job of recruiting early on. But once Aranda left and the mask came off it became abundantly clear he didn’t have what it takes to lead and sustain an elite college football program. He doesn’t have the acumen or knowledge or temperament to command the respect necessary to keep a steady pipeline of elite coordinators, and be failed. Oh and he also couldn’t stop chasing arse

It really does not matter at this point and we are looking forward now. Great Championship year and we have that to celebrate forever.
