While I see your point if LSU was the team winning all of the ships, would we be saying the same thing? I think not.

I think the OP asks a lot of questions that need to be asked about college football. We all want college football to be as good as it can be.

Like the OP, I think there is some misalignment between the spirit of the game and its various moving parts. It is plain to see that adjustments need to be made. I think we are at a critical time for the future of college football. Change is on the horizon.

I like both, but I disagree with you here. Just look at the AFC. Sunday will be exciting.

The OP is continuing the theme a posted on yesterday, the question is, since we love CFB or we wouldn't be here, can college football be saved?

One extreme issue which there is little discussion over is the corruption open gambling on CFB will bring. Yeah, I like to spot a few bucks on a game, but now it's out in the open now and the people who play the game come from the most vulnerable part of society, vulnerable to the lure of gaming money. If you grew up poor, you have zero chance of going to the NFL, making a couple of G's to throw some interceptions is going to look attractive.

The NFL, through revenue sharing and the draft, share the wealth of money and talent if they didn't teams like NO and Green Bay would be as doomed as they are in the NBA. Can college football level the field? The same teams at the top is getting damn boring/

Expect for the final 4 the bowl season is a joke, look in the stands, no one goes anymore, it's a studio show. The best players are going to no show more and more in the future. Within 5 years it will look like the NFL's 4th preseason game.

If a team like UCF beat LSU in October it would be a big deal, in this Fiesta exhibition game, it doesn't mean crap. ESPN and the other networks will try to make you think otherwise, put as much lipstick on the pig as they can, but it's still a pig.

The thing is I love LSU and especially LSU football. I am just sad to see the direction the game is heading and wondering if there is anything that can be done to fix it.

call it an NFL developmental league.

I'm all for the pros developing a minor league and the colleges getting back to having true student athletes like the service academies are today.

My love for football in general isn’t the same over the last couple of seasons. The rule changes, targeting ejections, and political aspects of the game have taken a lot of the fun out of it. It’s not the same game as even 5 years ago.

Agreed- remember when a boise state team upset Oklahoma in a pact fiesta bowl. It was genuinely exciting. Now you’d be lucky if Oklahoma would even show up

It’s entertainment. If you’re not being entertained, don’t go.

What’s the purpose of going to a movie or taking a vacation or any number of other things we do to pass the time. if you can only be entertained when LSU is winning the west or playing for a national championship, then you aren’t going to be in entertained very much.

What used to be the point that you feel you are missing out on?

It sounds like you are just getting older.

i still like college football but I miss the old bowl style. just split the damn titles like they used to. espn has made it to where nothing is relevant but the fkin playoff. they've shoved it down our throats. players wouldn't have skipped the rose, sugar, cotton, etc to skip to the league. I miss the old bowl system with fewer bowls. its not what it once was. not as enjoyable.
