What is the appropriate response in this situation?

Went to Walmart earlier (I know, I’m trashy) and wore an LSU sweatshirt. A guy stopped me and said “Great season!” (or so I think.. he was wearing a mask). He said “My kids were born in Tuscaloosa” so I replied jokingly “Oh I’m sorry.” He kind of looked at me funny and said “Well you have to give them (Bama) credit where credit is due.”

Anyway, what is the appropriate response when someone says they or their family is from Tuscaloosa? “Gross!”? “My condolences”?

Guy might as well have told me his kids have leprosy.

Offer to add them to your church prayer group.

Refer them to group therapy.

Sacrifice them in the Pool Room.

Report the father to CPS.

Ask for pics of their mother.

It’s sad that anyone would have to ask a message board how to have social skills.

It’s not the biggest faux pas ever, but I don’t think that was a good response to that’s where his kids were born. Maybe if that’s where he was born or grew up, but his kids? Could have been taken the wrong way.

Its a Bama fan. I've never met a nice one.

I don't think it is the fact we won the Natty that bothers them because I feel most reasonable Bama fans would estimate LSU would win another. But it was the fashion we did so, it kills them we are now considered the best team ever.

Bear, Tua, Namath, Ingram never scored 60 fricking TDs!!!! 60!! WTF

We don't have much love for Bama, but you can't deny they've had a remarkable run that we may never see again in our lifetime. I won't kill you to gife credit where credit is due and then say "now it's our turn".

Next time, ask where the kids were conceived? May be there is hope for them.

Stopped right there. Since when are we supposed to be ashamed about going to Walmart?

This went right over your head.

If you can’t tell that this post is meant to be an invitation for people to insult Alabama, I think you are the one who needs social pointers.

Sorry.. I’ve been spending too much time on the OT I’m not above Walmart.

And for those getting butthurt ITT it’s just a joke. I’m pretty positive the guy knew I was giving him a hard time. Just friendly banter.

The Bama folks say the ole “I’m sorry” when I mention I’m an LSU fan. I usually say, “yes you are”. Works for me.

That’s maybe the top response on this board in a long while.
