Les miles ruined Russell Shepard LSU career
That staff was the ones that moved him to WR which gave him the opportunity to play in the NFL. Not sure how they ruined him.
ETA: if he would have went to Oregon, where he was a better fit in college, he probably would have had a great college career but would have probably been a QB or RB for them and he would have never made it in the NFL.

Under coached is silly when referring to pass rushers numbers, when your team has trouble stopping the run you cant be aggressive If you have multiple great pass rushers you don't have to be very aggressive on rush .There are a thousand variables on how aggressive you can be including the teams you are playing .LSU has always in my memory defensively well coached !

My first thought was Russell Shepherd...he did virtually nothing in college and he has had a long NFL career
Addai is a good answer...he was way better than I thought he’d be...
I’m still shocked at the way Fournette’s career has gone...
Bottom line is this thread indicates how much system and usage matters to a players success

Jamarcus Russell -- dude was #1 pick and was a hold out his rookie season and couldn't last three years.
First name that came to my mind, but for all the wrong reasons. Total bust and a waste of talent.

I thought Trai Turner made a huge mistake declaring with 2 years of eligibility remaining. Guards are rarely in high demand. 5 Pro bowls later, I'm happy to say I was wrong.

Eugene Daniel!
He was the player I was trying to remember.
Back in the day, at every Coach's show, someone would call in complaining about the inability of Daniels to play Cornerback. I was surprised that come draft day that Daniels was drafted.
"He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 8th round of the 1984 NFL Draft. In 1985 Daniel tied Albert Lewis of the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC lead in interceptions, with 8. In 1995, Daniel recorded the longest interception return in Colts history, scoring on a 97-yard interception against the New York Jets.[2] During his 12 years with the Indianapolis Colts, Daniel was a fan favorite and held many franchise longevity records since surpassed by quarterback Peyton Manning.[citation needed]
Congratulations Mr Daniel.

Debo. Part-time starter at best and ST guy. Was not the highest rated when he got on campus. Has blossomed in the NFL.

Can’t remember the name but didn’t LSU have a 3rd string corner, that almost never saw PT while at LSU make an NFL roster and even start for a while? I think he was in the league for a few years too.

Russell Shepard surprised the hell out of me. He's had a longer and more productive pro career than a lot of former stud college receivers have had.
Probably the most surprising disappointment was Michael Clayton. Highly productive college receiver and had an outstanding rookie year. Out of the league after about 5 years I think.

From where he was ranked coming out of high school, Russell Gage comes to mind for me.

I played against him in high school and remember thinking he is never gonna make it at LSU. Then thought the same thing about the NFL. I’m Glad he proved me wrong.

Randall "Blue" Gay came to mind here. neither were really 3rd string CBs though, and both played quite a bit at LSU. Blue as a starter turned nickel back, Brooks as a special teams guy and dime (mostly)/ nickel back.
