Is this a combination on basketball and baseball?

I thought it was baseball at first, songoing with that. I’ll go steroid era of 1997. Korner, Larson, Furniss, Barbier! Cohan, Shipp, Demouey Thompson. It was amazing.

Willie Sims would have started for every SEC team that year except Kentucky and may have for them as well.

1980-81
next is a close
1979-80
1985-86
without the injuries and N. Wilson ruled out (grr) could have pushed the 1980-81 team.
1986-87
1978-79 beat number 1 Kentucky with it's starting five fouled out.
1989-90
2005-06
1991-92 lack of a guard.

That 2000 team was pretty awesome and had great balance. It only went about 8 deep. But would be a tough match up for any team given their size..

We had season tickets during the 80s, including 1981, & they were easily the best team. Debatable if they had the most talent compared to some of the other teams. But just imagine, if we had a real coach during that time period. Man, could you imagine Bobby Knight sitting on our bench as coach . Just think about that for a minute .

Yes, it was very unfortunate the way that Wisconsin game was officiated. The only way that Wisconsin team had a chance was to allow them to hack, hold and bump..and they did, but it was consistent that whole tournament and I think there was a mandate to let them play and they did...no blood no foul that year.

There have been plenty of teams with a lot of talent that didn’t perform up to potential . 1990 was a classic case. They had no chemistry at all. 1981 was the best team. 1980 was second best.

My dad was runner-up to Sparky Wade for 2 years for the MVP of the state. Sparky played at Jena, & my dad went to a little school in Lasalle parish , Manifest. It was during the depression , & he had to turn down offers to play college bb as his dad had died in a fire, & he had to work to put food n the table. His name was Prince Cain , & he spoke of Sparky Wade in God like terms. What I would have given to see my dad play , I guess as a lot of people do. As far as this year's team, I'm dying to see them press. He will have the personnel to do it this year.

without question it was the team with don redden, anthony wilson, jose vargas, oliver brown, derrick taylor and ricky blanton. lowest seeded team to ever reach the final four. record still stands.

Wrong . The 81 team was the best team in the country that emsesson. Rudy’s injury kept us from winning it all. The 86 team was also better than the 06 team. Even without Bun they were better. Had he been eligible the second half of the season that was another national championship we missed. We had no answer for Ellison without Wilson.

he correct answer is 1981

Actually, I was thinking the 1980 team was the best all time. It had the same core group of players as the '81 team (except Mitchell), but had Scales (6'9"), Mattick (7'0"), and Hultberg (6'3" streak shooter off the bench). When Scales' head was in the game he was almost unstoppable and one of the best ever Tigers.

no love for Bob Petit's '53 team?

They lost a week before Christmas to Tulsa, the team's next loss was against Indiana in the Final Four. The win streak included a perfect conference record and a victory over Tulsa, the only team to defeat the Tiger prior to the start of the NCAA tourney.

80'-81' the best not counting the one Tiger squad that won it all way back in the day, 34'-35'.
