I think it’ll happen in some form. Maybe non conference games get canceled and/or fan #s limited.

I’m cautiously optimistic that the SEC schools will be open and will play - but I think the schools in the People’s Republic of California will remain closed - so everyone can work on counterfeiting more mail-in ballot forms.

99%. Too much money involved and enough time to work it out.

If we are still closed down this fall to the point we don't have college and/or nfl, we as a society/economy will be so screwed, sports won't matter.

There is close to 0% chance this will happen, because we as a nation are TOTALLY OVERREACTING to this virus, and people are waking up to this fact with every day that passes.

Well, first of all, it's only Harvard MEDICAL SCHOOL that said they will do on-line classes this fall. Many of their undergraduates are actually circulating a petition AGAINST an on-line fall semester:

Harvard students want real classes

Also, the strong sentiment at most schools is to try to be as close to normal as possible in the fall. For the vast majority of FBS schools, this includes football in some form. Check this out from the President of West Virginia University:

WVU President promises football

Bottom line: my guess is that the vast majority of FBS schools end up playing football in some form this fall, but that fan access is severely curtailed.

If it's too unsafe to play this fall it will never be safe to play again, as per the way it's being defined.

this is ludicrous. for most of us driving to the store in your car is more dangerous than getting covid-19.

Louisiana High Schools are being permitted to start summer workouts on June 8th, initially in groups of less than 25.

If other states do it and there isn't an outbreak, good chance colleges start practice a few weeks after that.

There is a zero percent chance of that happening.

If CFB hasn’t started by October 1, there won’t be any CFB til Fall 2021.

Will you elaborate? Are there people saying that even with a vaccine it will be unsafe?

I believe the power 5 conferences will but with limited or no fans in attendance like Nascar is currently doing.

The money from the TV contracts is what pays the bills and as long as that revenue is available, games will be played.

Too many variables to accurately predict.
Best case scenario would likely be shortened schedule with conference games only before empty stadiums. How long the season lasts is another matter.
COVID isn’t going away and it will cast a long shadow.
Any dramatic spike or outbreak will end a season for any sport.
