I want to hear him say the following:
"To the fanbase and to Michael Cauble: I'm sorry. You are spoiled, but not because of me. You're spoiled because the last three head coaches of your beloved Tigers won national titles and I came here to do the same, but I have failed so far. I'm sorry. I took this job thinking I could come in here, rebuild the program into another championship, and leave my mark. I want that title as much as you all do, but I just don't believe I've been up to the task. To the LSU community: you have humbled me. I've learned a lot about myself while here and more than that, I've gained even more respect for Nick Saban, Les Miles, and Ed Orgeron for their ability to build and maintain championship programs here because I sure as hell can't figure it out myself. I'm going to give my all to this university and this program for the remainder of this year and will be retiring at the end of the season. I'm sorry I called you spoiled as if it were a bad thing. It's a great thing that you're spoiled, and I'm sorry I can't continue to spoil you."
That would be a great start.

I would want him to take ownership of the failure that he put on the field.
He has taken responsibility plenty of times and every time he's been blasted for it. The "we have to coach better" responses he's said numerous times.
For me I need to hear that Sloane has been stripped of his playcalling duties.

It hasnt been 4 years; LSU was elite at OC under Denbrock in 2023 but HORRIBLE on defense. House ended up being a whiff but was a hot commodity at the time and that was corrected.
It's now season two under Sloan and he should have been fired last year but the fear of losing Underwood prevented that. Sloan has never been a hot commodity at OC but the fear of losing Underwood cost them Denbrock AND stuck them with Sloan.
It took Saban 2013 to realize he needed to modernize the offense and hire Kiffin.
Hopefully, BK realized this once Underwood flipped and gave Sloan this last season to prove himself.

Look. It’s all on me. No more excuses.
No more physical domination.
No more mental mistakes.
I’m taking over offensive play calls.
Defense needs to learn how to tackle
And lastly, I’m sorry. I should have prepared us better in the offseason and before games. It’s on me.

If we’re being realistic, nothing will change my opinion today. But bringing in Sam Pittman immediately would be a start.
Firing Sloan today isn’t realistic, but stating that the RPO game will be vaulted and we will see more under center would also be start.

What could Coach Kelly say today in the press conference to change your opinion?
"I'm resigning effective immediately"

If he came out and took full ownership (he has) the fans would just turn his words around on him.
Words are empty unless actual change is made. You can only say "put it on me - we're working on it" so many times before people check out. That's called accountability.

He is supposed to take full ownership to start with.He has the ability to hire and fire his coaching staff.

So, you agree with me. There's nothing that can be said to change your opinion.

"I'm benching Nussmeier until he realizes he is a College QB, not a person afraid of getting "hurt' so he can get drafted in the NFL."

He has never taken full ownership. Stop claiming coach speak is taking full ownership. Until he admits the he never should have promoted an unqualified dunce to be his OC just to please a recruit that said OC couldn't even get to campus, then he is taking partial ownership maybe.

At this point it’s just words from Kelly because there won’t be any action.
Some of the CBS talking heads linked on the homepage are spot on with their comments:
Kelly is on the hot seat.
Expectations at LSU are maybe the highest in the country.
Kelly’s issues at ND weren’t ND, they were Kelly.
Les and Ed won titles; never expected Kelly to do worse than those two.
Kelly does less with more.
LSU under Kelly does just enough to get by type of mentality.
Kelly doesn’t show up for big games.
Kelly needs to match actions to words.

Of BK? No. He clearly has no idea how to fix it. Not sure why you're attacking the fanbase for not accepting his empty excuses though.

I wasn't attacking the fanbase.
It's pure reality what I said. There's absolutely NOTHING Kelly could say to change the opinion of the fanbase.
This isn't a defense of Kelly.
I could attack our fanbase. It's not the most knowledgeable or reasonable group. But, that's not the issue here. Kelly is at the prove it stage of his tenure. The fanbase isn't going to listen to anything he says. And, he made a couple of major mistakes with his words this year that are going to make things harder. The fanbase certainly isn't reasonable, but that isn't the problem.
After the Florida game, he shouldn't have been trying to paint a picture of a great football team. That's counter productive to what he's trying to accomplish. And, it set this team up for the fall that inevitablly has come.
Instead, he should have said, "the fans are rightfully concerned. If we don't figure out how to solve some of these offensive problems, we are going to be looking at a very different position than we currently are in. Everyone wants to assume we are a playoff team. I can tell you right now that we will not be a playoff team unless everyone in this program commits itself to working and being better and evolving into that team."
It would have lit a fire under the team. It would have lit a fire under his staff. And, frankly, it would have set expectations for the fanbase that were reflective of reality...rather than saying we are good enough.
A lot of things don't work when your OL can't pass protect. A lot of other things don't work when your OL can't run block. When you struggle at both, nothing works consistently. Putting together a string of 8-10 positive plays in a row is very difficult.
Every resource available, and any potential disaster emergency fixes should have been put into motion after the Florida game (at the latest). Instead, nothing happened. Now things are worse, and it's too late to change anything that will impact the year, IMO.
Add to that a defense that has gone from "dominant" to "struggles to get a single stop against Vandy"...and you have a team that really may struggle to win any SEC games.
