bayou85, you seriously need to visit your optometrist. Nobody in this thread sees Sage as a good tackler but you.

I didn't give my opinion. The coaching staff moved him to corner for that reason, you moron.

Sage missed a good bit of tackles last year, thats just a fact.

PFF charted him with 11 missed tackles with 39 total tackles so he missed 22% of his attempted tackles.

This is actually much worse than his first 2 years here where he missed just 1 tackle total (made 29 tackles over that time frame).

Ryan was our best corner last year once Alexander went down, thats why he stayed there and continues to this fall practice as well it seems...but he did struggle with tackling quite a bit there last season.

Burns concerns me the most by far.

Penn , I don’t mind. Sage , either play him at safety or just have him as a utility db off the bench he’s been here too long to keep experimenting. Burns I think Kylin Jackson overtakes him by end of season

Penn can be a solid LB with better coaching and scheme.

needs to hit the weight room, work on his lateral quickness and speed drills

i also think he can be solid if he gets better in all these areas

I’m sure having a shitty cast around you doesn’t help, but like I said, go watch the tape. His inability to tackle at a position like LB is unacceptable. It was very, very bad and he was definitely one of the worst offenders.

I've been hard on Greg penn but I think he only had 3 missed tackles all yr.

He will be better in this defense. He runs into trouble when he gets into with big o line.

That’s fine. He was moved to corner last year for his ability to tackle by the coaches. It’s a fact. You can think it’s the wrong choice. It’s what happened.

That was my first thought as well.

PJ Woodland is rated 69 on CFB 25. That’s a problem in video game world.

Penn is a solid inside lb , especially against the run . Not very flashy but gets the job done . Burns has never been a playmaker and isn’t good against the run or pass. Sage has looked out of position most of the time . Little known fact - Saban wanted Sage badly and promised him to make him the next great bama db , playing the Star position , which burns has been moved to recently . Little Nicky knows a thing or two about where a player can be best at and he knows how to coach db’s.

Move on from sage! We can’t go into usc with sage starting at corner! He’s a liability especially against usc receivers! And at safety he looked the worst spring game! Penn will be fine especially with Perkins taking that next step and baker coaching him. I feel like burns is a lost cause to ! Constantly taking bad angles and he can’t cover ! Jackson got in and immediately shined spring game ! Burns have never popped of the screen in 2 yrs. And if we’re talking about the position change from the spring game u can clearly see Jackson is a better athlete and tackles/covers better ! I think it’s just mental because anyone can see the better athlete ! Sorry for venting but I’m tied

They are all one year better. I think we have tendencies to judge players in college to much based off of the past. They are drill being coached at this level and the majority of them get better each year. There are exceptions, but players continue to practice and work hard...and they get better

If Major Burns is idolized by the younger guys again, we’re in for big trouble.

He had 6. But also had 700 snaps inside the box. He doesn't do anything outside of the tackle box. You can't miss what you cant even get to.
