This is a ranking done by college coaches and is truly an indictment on the current coaching staff. I mean how did we end up with 2 coordinators that are learning on the job! Ed has screwed up the program and I can’t see him getting another year unless he wins 9 games and we see monumental improvement as the season progresses. This is a Chizik like implosion and we have to move on.

LSU has the biggest recruiting advantage which is why it is #1.

It's trending in the wrong direction, though. We should be top 3, yet we're 5th. And, schools behind us are trending up rapidly.

Nah, this is bigger than the coach, it’s about resources & commitment to winning

Flip LSU and UGa, and it's just about right. Three NC's and playing for another over last 20 years is hard to overlook, not to mention the three different coaches deal - proves the place is set up for success in a big way.

Agreed, but it also has to do with results. Results are what's keeping us out of the top 3. Results are why other schools are gaining ground.

UGA having only 2 titles with none since 1980 makes this list feel... weird.

Having shitty years like this doesn't help our brand. Especially since we are now under UGA for win % all time, it's neck and neck though in that stat.

This is why I scoff when fatalistic morons on this site contend that LSU won't be able to attract quality head coaching candidates.

So in the last 20 yrs why have we not attracted better coaches? And dont say Saban. He was about 4-5 choice at the time...

Every top level coach in the past 50 yrs has turned us down when we were looking.

1st 10 years had to do with money. LSU was known as a cheap skate school. Second 10 years was purely on who the leadership selected. They did good with Saban. I thought Miles was an average hire and he lasted longer than he should have. Coach O book still needs to be written.

This is just not true.

Hope LSU can soon live up to the billing. The program needs an intelligent coach with vision. One who can attract great assistants and develop superior recruiting.

Not to bash us, but why would anyone vote LSU as first place?

I can see UT maybe being more of a national brand even though we have had more recent success however UGA hasn’t won anything since the 90’s. So that is pretty dumb I would put us honestly at 4 behind Bama, Ohio state, and Clemson though I think it is pretty close.

Well where are the effects of that recruiting the last year +? Something does not add up.

Said it before, top 5 program that pulls top 5 talent and somehow we have a bottom 5 coaching staff.

It really is amazing with all of the resources, facilities and talent we acquire that we aren't legitimate contenders for the playoffs (let alone title) every year.

LSU has to be #1 in underachieving relative to the above criteria.

This is why fans get so upset. A top 5 program and our administration has given us two consecutive head coaches that no top 50 program would even take a look at. Shear incompetence.

Alabama has the best program but they aren’t the best without Saban. So in 5 years they’ll drop out.

That is a big question so far as I am concerned.
