Recency bias. He handed the program off to unqualified yes men and the results were poor.

LSU’s run from 08-17 was elite
5 CWS appearances
1 title
1 runner up

Paul deserves credit for that.

And you’ve found it….Jay is 1000% better at giving a shite than Maineri was. That is huge for a coach.

Add noot, Taylor and shores to this pitching staff and we have one of the deepest staffs in the nation. JJ did one hell of a job improving this team offensively and pitching wise.

Surly you’ve given Mainieri credit for recruiting and getting a commitment from Grant Taylor right?

Just as an exercise I would be interested in seeing your list of key contributors from this season and who you think recruited each one.

I’m curious as to if anyone that upvoted that post will respond to yours.. I’m assuming they won’t

Most everything except fielding. Paul’s teams were good fielding teams, the problem is that a lot of his really good fielders couldn’t hit a lick, had no power, etc. Pitching hasn’t been great under JJ other than Skenes, but the future seems bright.

I’ll take it 100/100 times.

This. You can see it in JJ he cares a lot and it probably eats away at him when something doesn't go right. He's still young, can improve, and already has a lot of commitment to all the finer details.

Pawl was an absolute fricking zombie his last 3-4 years at LSU and didn't seem like he gave a shite. He acted like he was already in retirement. Up to 2017 he was a great coach. He stopped caring after that and then health issues also caught up.

LSU is 5th in the conference in run differential +/-. The game has 3 phases

LSU lead in so many offensive stats this season and was 1 cancelled game win away from winning the entire SEC.

I'll take that every single season. A national seed. Pretty confident they will continue to address the pitching moving forward.

It's wild to me the nitpicking going on with this coach and team. They didn't need to win this tournament. They even held back their top RBI producer and only lost by 1 to a top 3 team.

I guess people would rather sell out to win this tournament over being in the best position to win the regionals. It just wasn't necessary to go all out to win these last two games. I mean you even saw the two struggling freshman in that final game. They were just getting reps. And again, still only lost by 1 to Arkansas.

I'll take JJ over PM all day. And if anyone is complaining about the baserunning they need to remember LSU did that under PM as well. It happens.

Given a certain talent level, I’ll take prime CPM to coach them, but prime CPM will never get the talent that CJJ will get. And CJJ is also a good coach.

LSU is getting a top 8 seed.
The 1 actual important goal from the regular season accomplished.

Let’s see what happens from here.

Let me start by saying I may have too much time on my hands

Based on the official roster weights it looks like it is 13..5 PM & 13 JJ with 1/2 of Grant Taylor being allotted to each coach. However, the average weight of the 13 of each (not accounting for Taylor) is 219 PM and 231 JJ.
