Why do you think you can judge a coaches skill in just 2 regular seasons?

What is it you are expecting? Complete domination like football?

This is one of the most talented teams to ever set foot on LSU's campus and a large portion of them are gone after this season.

The baseline expectation for this team was always a deep Omaha run.

Can we wait and see before you throw dirt on this season? I get it. Long term coaching style will determine how we do year in year out. But let’s see how we do this year.

Neither are close to Vitello, which is the biggest problem.

Recruiting…

I don’t think you understand how bad off our roster was, especially the pitching, when Maineri left. This roster is still being rebuilt and we still need way more quality pitchers.
Just as an exercise I would be interested in seeing your list of key contributors from this season and who you think recruited each one.

I believe Jay has been to Omaha more than Vitello as a head coach and beat him in a series head to head this year.

He is better at being a baseball coach today and tomorrow than PM is or will be.

PM had a season with no left handed pitcher. That’s how bad it got with PM.

Miles better recruiting. Pawl was never good here he always relied on others to do it for him alongside personnel management. Also, hitting. He can actually coach hitting instead of relying on Javi to frick it up for years. He's not like Pawl that thinks you either have it or you don't so he lets someone he liked in Javi frick it up more. The recruiting is why Pawl is not here anymore and how bad the roster management got due to him getting even lazier with it.

JJ already brought in 3 amazing players he recruited since being here in White, Barry and Skenes. The bullpen still needs lots of work but to be fair, a decent portion of it is still leftovers from Pawl with guys like Dutton instead of USM's ace we passed for Dutton. Let that sink in.

He also doesn't throw players under the bus in interviews especially in interviews where nobody lost the game except Pawl himself and never held himself accountable outside tossing a player under the bus.

Hitting and recruiting. Guys like White, Crews, and Morgan are going to hit no matter who their coach is but look at the improvement with guys like Travinski and Jobert. Hell even Milazzo was a competent hitter at points this season.

CPM was better at teaching infield defense for sure but a lot of that was he recruited an abundance of shortstops.

That ain’t all bad. I don’t care what a kid’s spin rate is on his slider if he can’t throw it over the plate and get outs. Give me the lefty that throws 88 mph and keeps batters off balance over the kid with the 95 mph fastball and a slider with an unbelievable spin rate that can’t find the strike zone with a map.

Do people realize that arm strength has nothing to do with accuracy? We haven’t been able to throw strikes for the last 5 years. Our best strike thrower since Eric Walker is a guy who throws 102 mph.

What a bogus argument! Paul’s competition didn’t have the transfer portal, either.

From 2008 to 2017, LSU missed out on a top 8 seed twice

We were a national seed six consecutive seasons ('12-'17) which I think is a record.

OTOH, were we even above .500 in the SEC over his last three seasons?
