But no contract has been signed so he can still go back to OM if he wants??

I suppose he could if he wanted. But Ole Miss announced earlier this week it had hired John David Baker from East Carolina as OC.

Lane had a hand in this knowing OM would try and keep him. Just wanted to get a Weis salary jump.

“Interest from Ole Miss in keeping him”

Never should have let him go help them, he was already under contract here.

He'll likely be up for a HC job within 4 years anyway. This look in doesn't really move the needle that much.

With Baker now getting north of 3, this isn't that surprising. We're already paying Lane 12-13 a year, what's another 500k on top.

They moved on and hired an OC.

That contract is insane. Basically guarantees he will be the highest paid OC in the SEC.

This is why I was glad Ole Miss didn't allow Kiffin to continue to coach in the playoffs. We would have been left at the alter with no plan B,C, or D. I knew this crap would happen.

Now, not only are they helping Ole Miss, they aren't doing work for LSU right now. Look for one or two to change their minds and stay at Ole Miss.

It includes an annual "look-in" to always make him the highest-paid SEC OC.

How exactly does this work? What if another SEC OC has the same clause in their contract. Do both OCs get their contracts re-worked to infinity ?

And Baker will be highest paid DC
At least LSU is putting their money where their mouth is. I’m excited and still broke.

Their contracts with LSU all have a buyout clause requiring them to pay 300% of their contract if they leave LSU before March 2026. It’s basically a “no returning to Ole Miss” clause.

I may be wrong but I think Weis and the rest of the staff from Om that have signed agreements are just waiting on board approval to finalize those deals. I think.

They better go ahead and approve. That’s the same thing that happened when Denbrock bolted.

Why?

Because the OC under Kiffin is like being a DC under Saban.

Weiss has done nothing to warrant being the highest paid OC in the sport.

Every good thing that happens to Ole Miss in the playoffs is bad for LSU. We should not be contributing to their success in any way. Anyone who thinks LSU or Lane Kiffin will benefit from having LSU's 2026 offensive coordinator involved in Ole Miss' playoff success is some combination of nuts and naive.

I agree with you, but I trust that Kiffin knows what he’s doing, otherwise he would’ve never allowed it.

This is some bullshite, every player and coach has their handout now with our generous donors. For Lane and Weis to extract more than the original MOU for Weis burns my arse up. Not a good way to start a new position when LSU was only trying to help!

This narrative is the dumbest thing going and I’ve seen it everywhere. Lane Kiffin isn’t some messiah. He’s a slightly above average coach that happened to be the best coach available in this cycle.

Why does LSU need to bend over backwards and amend agreed-upon deals to appease him?

People who think we won’t be right back in this position when Kiffin doesnt win a championship within 5 years are delusional.

So to bend over backwards is dumb
