Our past administration liked to hire lazy and easy. Hopefully Verge changes this.

Exactly. That’s what I’m alluding to in my OP.

Undefeated national champions two years ago and actually looking pretty decent this year post-Harbaugh.

Definitely looking better than LSU.

Drink seems to hire pretty good assistants. That's about it

The advantage to picking Morris is he is paid $1.4 million right now. You could pay him 5 million with a fraction of the buyout of big name coaches. If things don’t work out in 2-3 years you can move on easily. Hiring a coach like Morris requires a lot of research to find out if he is a good fit.

Since Dillingham appears to be staying put, Morris would be interesting.

What about Glenn Schumann?

This would be a slam dunk hire if Georgia defense wasnt so suspect this year....Georgia fans even started wanting him fired earlier in the year....they were giving up a lot of points. Its a risky hire but he knows the SEC through and through.

Let’s quit being lazy and trying to hire someone else’s old retread head coach off of their staff.

I don't think you understand what retread means.

Virginia Tech hires James Franklin? Retread.

LSU hires someone's current HC? Not retread.

You realize Kelly coached at ND for 10 years and Drink has been coaching at Mizzou? In the SEC nonetheless

Your logic has been crap throughout this whole thread.

Out of this group, I would choose Klein. Coach Day brought in Chip Kelly last year to help Hartline with playcalling. And I would worry that he could leave if OSU opens up. Stein is good, but I think Klein would be a better hire of those 3. He has the A&M offense rolling and you look how fast he flipped the script agsinst South Carolina.

Schumann has been an integral part of a Championship level program longer than anyone on that list. He’s also been in the SEC his entire career and worked under both Saban and Smart. If you want someone to come here and build a program based on physical football and great recruiting/NIL/Portal, he’s the preferable option.

Klein is only one year older and spent most of his career at a much smaller P4 program. Stein has also only been at a major program for 2 years. I wouldn’t trust Hartline yet after his earlier struggles.

Schumann may be a year younger, but his career track should have him better prepared to take on a role like this one.

He’s also recruited well considering where he is. And he was all-in on NIL early and has used the portal well. But the upside probably doesn’t match what he would be looking for to leave.

Personally, I'd take Schumann over Kiffin and it wouldnt even be close but Im sure LSU fans would hate the hire....

Given the thinned out field of candidates and competition in this cycle, I think people would come around on him quickly due to his pedigree. I also think they would accept a younger DC like him with a great SEC pedigree over G5 guys like Sumrall after seeing Lanning’s quick success.

Freeman is the next HC at OSU whether he’s at ND OR LSU IMO

I'd like stein or Schumann to interview.

Stein is extremely intriguing to me.

I love that Schumann has learned under Kirby but I'd want to hear what his plan is for building out his own program..same as stein.

I do like the idea of a tough hard nosed defense every yr. And a running game. That's why Georgia is usually in every game. Stein runs a great offense with multiple schemes in the running game.

I'd honestly be happy going the coordinator route and spending the rest on nil. The kiffin money is getting crazy at 15/16 mil.

Blake Baker is as good as any. I would hire him simply because he will bring continuity and he knows LSU.

Its what Ole Miss did. And the guy there is relatively young and has proven he can win in the SEC. I would love to go after a top coordinator but I feel a little stronger about making a run at Kiffin. I think he gives us an automatic 10 wins next year which is a virtual lock for the playoffs. The question is, can he do that consistently enough to get us a title.
