Let me preface this by saying I'm not a Coach O sycophant. I did not like his hiring. I think there were better qualified coaches. I also think he reinforces an unfair Southern stereotype.

But, it seems like the fans are out hunting for some reason to "cancel" Coach O. Someone here digs out an old "fishing hole" quote. This is exactly what the "cancel culture" lefties do.

Is anyone really surprised that Coach O has said some unwise things over his lifetime? It wasn't as if anyone thought he was some sophisticated and savvy media manager.

Judge him on how the team performs. Quit the "cancel culture" nonsense.

Recent events, I note (e.g. the UCLA student statement) are outside the cancel culture gamut as they relate to professionalism and maturity.

Then he is in real trouble.

So when one of your favorite coaches is fired or on his way out it’s cancel culture? What a dishonest little toad you are.

Even if he acts like a retard when he's not coaching?

O's precarious hold on the HC position is almost entirely due to his performance since the NC.

His behavioral transgressions only come when his job performance is poor. So I do see how you could think it's the behavior that makes him a target, but no, it's the record since winning the NC.

I think Gene Chizik was basically a choir boy and they still got him up out of there quickly.

You do know the generational breakdown on this site. It shouldn’t surprise you at all what you’re reading. I’ve hated the hire before he was hired. Threatened to pull annual donations to both the school and TAF. It is hard to do when you love LSU. With that, IF you love LSU like he says he does, he should resign for obvious reasons.

It's not cancel culture if you have legitimate reasons for wanting the person gone. He is going off the rails with his off the field antics and his coaching is sub par to say the least. This is not the first incident and if the past is any predictor it won't be the last this season.

A coach or any other employee being fired because of poor performance has ZERO in common with "cancel culture".

Below .500 since 2019. End of story.

Then I'd say the "fishing hole" quote from last night is outside the cancel culture gamut as it is recent, unprofessional, and immature.

eta: Also, the team sucks this year, and was worse last year. The lone bright spot for LSU so far this year is a 3 point win over Mississippi State.

He's not one of my favorite coaches. I have called him Coach Bleaux. I have always thought he was a buffoon. But, none of this was a secret when he was hired (or when the team one an NC). So now many fans are after him for being Coach Orgeron. That is what a dishonest toad does.

This isn’t about a single isolated incident and you know it.

It's not about the quote, it's about his professionalism. I don't give a frick that he said it, but now is not the time to be making cute little cajun jokes. The program YOU run is in trouble, you are the face of it and this is how your going to conduct yourself. This has always been a business where you can be a personality when your winning....when your not you better be all business.

Anything else?

He had as much support as any coach after 2019. People didn’t just jump off his bandwagon for the hell of it, he produced this outcome. The record, the level of competition that consistently beats us and his behavior should speak for itself to anyone being honest about this situation. But you’re not, you invoke, of all things, cancel culture to blame shift instead.

Wanting him gone as HC and pointing out all the reasons why he should be gone is not the same as cancelling him.

No one is trying to "cancel" him for what he said last night. He's getting the hook for everything that led up to the prompting of such a troll call-in

At least be accurate. He is not below .500 since 2019, yet.

It’s not cancel culture. He’s a bad coach. Bad coaches should be fired. People who are bad at their jobs should be fired.

You people, I swear.

No one is trying to “cancel” SBC. We’re talking about a thing that just happened. A thing that is certainly one more straw on the back of certain coon arse camel.
