I’m so sick of the empty tiger stadium mantra …….. football is ENTERTAINMENT. If the game isn’t ENTERTAINING , then people leave …. Hot, tired kids, lopsided score ….. all count. Why do people care so much.
A competitive SEC game ….. which happens 4 times per year if we are lucky …. Usually has great crowds… the rest??? Who the hell cares??!!

It drives me crazy..........you get 7 Saturdays in that stadium this year and people cant wait to get away and go home early!!!
Come Jan you will wish you could go to a game but you left as quick as you could when you were actually there.
BS people...........take it in.........you never know.

How many times were you trying to leave to get out of town or drive to somewhere in the city compared to walking to bars or your hotel?
Plenty. I don't often stay right near the stadium. Not all SEC stadiums are located in Nashville, and we don't play Arkansas in Little Rock anymore. Most SEC venues are in smaller towns than BR and are a cluster to get out of. I sure as hell don't want to go to a bar just off the gates of campus, win or lose, and try to start drinking with a bunch of frat boys after a game. That's a good way to get an arse kicking.

BR's post-game traffic is NO worse than other stadiums.
It's MUCH worse
It often takes me as long to get from North Gates to the 10-12 split as it does to get from the 10-12 split to Mandeville
For the big games, there is a window that staying an extra 10-15 minutes can add :45 min to my commute home
We used to be the Alma Mater family and we didn't leave till they were done regardless of the outcome; things are a bit different now.
My seats are right at the top of the tunnel, just off the aisle. The Arkansas game for example, we stood and watched Ramos' kick and as soon as I saw the hands go up signalling the kick was good, we literally ran to the tailgate, jumped on our bikes, rode to the car, drove home and I was on my patio one hour and 16 minutes after the kick was good.
If waited till the clock said 00:00 it would have easily taken over 2 hours and it's not just the time it takes to be home; there are entirely too many drunk people on I-12 so the less I have to be around, the better I feel.

Makes 0 sense sitting in my truck for 1 hour before I can even get out of the parking lot, then another hour going all the way through Baton Rouge just to get to the Interstate.

Who cares. Are you paying for their tickets?

Not true at all.

True. Also, USCe you cant walk out of the stadium because they’re moving traffic on the streets just outside the stadium.

WRONG!
I have been to 6 other SEC venues, and traffic is not an issue!

So you're telling us, you go to every single home game and stay for every single second every single week?? If not then you should probably stfu. If you do then you should probably pick up another hobby, because i'm not sure thats healthy.
Some people go to one game a year and stay the entire time, while others are able to go to several games and some probably leave early when its not close. You're telling me the fan that goes to one game is somehow a better fan than the guy that goes to multiple games but occasionally leaves early because they're not stupid and want to beat traffic.

I don't have driving experience to many SEC stadiums, but....
Getting out of Kyle Field in Aggieland is terrible. Huge crowd, often distant parking lot, long walk, then logjam of traffic to get to a country highway that isn't an interstate.
Memorial Stadium in Austin is outrageous. I-35 gets backed up for dozens of miles in both directions. Parking on campus (near the stadium) is difficult to find unless you pay scalpers. They have those rent-a-rickshaw pedal cabs but that's a $20 ride, if you can find one. And forget about leaving right after the game -- it'll take you 60-90 minutes just to get back on the clogged interstate.
Oklahoma stadium is also tough. Campus parking is on season basis. Otherwise, you park in somebody's neighborhood driveway for $40-50. Routes back to I-35 consist of a couple of narrow streets.
To get back to the original poster's question, I think leaving games 30 minutes early is the only way to have a better escape experience.
I'm one of these diehards that stays to the end, but I can understand the leave-early mentality to an extent. Leaving after the third quarter is too early, but that's just my opinion.

Factually wrong. Ole Miss for example is infinitely easier to leave (just experienced it this past weekend), they have way less roadways available to get traffic out.
Can't wait for Oct 12th so that I can be reminded of just how shitty leaving Death Valley is comparatively, hopefully with a win like last time at least

The only true way to help the traffic is the one that no one will ever want to do.
Don't allow people without tickets on campus.
You have an extra 25,000 or more on campus for big games with no intention of going to the game. How many more cars on the road is that?

I grew up in Morgan City and we went to every LSU game. We would tailgate after the game and not leave until 45 minutes to an hour after the game. We wouldn't get home until after midnight, but there was little traffic after the game. It is important to note that because there was no tv, most games ended at 10pm.

There’s no excuse even in a blowout when it’s between 50 and 90 degrees.

Dude, STFU. Did I say I go to every game or stay until the last second? Did I say one group of fans is better than the other? Fans leaving in the 3rd quarter are the norm and just asking why.
Posted on 9/30/24 at 9:26 am to Tdubs7
In the early 90s the leaving early was a result of Florida and the like dog stomping us. Then once we became good it wasn’t as big of an issue then we got complacent and it is an issue.
