It’s not Madden. The supposed guilty party not being a decent human being has nothing to do with coach O(not a fan of his either though).

Dude has been a piece of work for a while.

Well I remember a time in like 99 or 00 we were in Florida and we stayed in a city about 30-45 min north of Gainesville every time I went which was both trips in my tenure. Somebody took damn near every room number plate off of every room in that hotel (can’t remember the brand). Typically Frank Wickes was a fairly level headed guy that didn’t get too worked up even when we fricked up. Usually Linda was the one cursing and hollering at us. However the first practice after that Wickes lit into the whole band…..I’m pretty sure they had people at the Highland Rd Burger King that heard him use several “mother frickers”, “god damns”, and “sons of bitches” that day. Never heard him dress us down like that before or after that. I’m pretty sure they were asked not to stay in that hotel again

there was a long and sordid history of TGBFTL in Gainesville

wickes and linda came from there

I went with a pep band trip in 1990 and we stayed at a Holiday Inn on the outskirts of town. apparently two years before TGBFTL stayed in the city limits and some guys went nuts and did a bunch of damage, including throwing all of the pool furniture in the pool. so we were banned from all of the hotels in the city limits

this was one of the episodes that coincided with the great TB purge of 1989-90. The kicker was the pic of hungover band members at a Saints performance in the Advocate

When I joined there had been a large push to remove a bunch of the rowdy members and ban the drinking from the trips. It was also the first year of the Tiger Rag ban as well

Chris Nakamoto learned of complaints about misconduct involving the trooper and at least one female member of the band while traveling to the Mississippi State game.  According to complaints, a trooper traveling on duty to the game was later in a hotel room with band members.  Allegations of misconduct included drinking and inappropriate behavior.

Interesting....when I was in TB we always had pretty friendly relationships with the support folks that travelled with us including the bus drivers, troopers, etc.

However, I don't think it was ever this close of a relationship. We never drank with the police after the game ....we never would have been that dumb.

Burn it ALL down. (Band too!)

O gonna go first, then Reenamsky, then continue with the Big 3 in the Music Department. (Since this a Band thread)

SOM Dean Todd Queen. (Mike Archer) Gone.

LSU Director of Bands Damon Talley. (Curley Hallman) Gone.

Tiger Band Director Kelvin Jones. (Willie Taggart) Gone.

The entire Band program is mirroring the Football program. (Aint no Swor's, Rouse's, Wickes's or Moorhouse's anywhere in sight)..........

Hire Marching Band Nick Saban. (Ken Bodiford of Jacksonville State)

but blaming the man for a situation with a LSP trooper and the band is a bit too much mental gymnastics for me.

It’s culture. The coach sets the tone. Everyone else follows.

Well by the time I got there in 98 the push to ban drinking and the Tiger Rag ban had been lifted.

I remember one year for a Saints game they had a section party the night before the Saints game (maybe Tenor Toga)...I recall being like...

It seemed like bad planning....but hell everybody went. I remember one of my fellow trumpet players who was normally a pretty laid back guy...he stood right on the sideline maybe 4 ft from Drew Bledsoe and yelled how bad he sucked for 10 minutes....it was hilarious and how Bledsoe showed enough constraint to not say shite really showed how professional he was.

Good thing the Advocate didn't photograph that day because it was a lot of hungover people....Linda and Roy were pissed.

Could be a piccolo player as well....they often times lived up to the reputation garnered from American Pie...for lay people purposes piccolo = flute.

I'm sure a famed poster here may disagree.

I hear that all in the program and even most alumni like this guy. I've never met him but I will in November.

Now Talley on the other hand it seems has completely rubbed GBFTB folks the wrong way.

I mean look neither will ever be Frank Wickes but I doubt another like him will ever come around.

Can confirm. Not that this instance involved a drum line girl, but their reputation as sluts.

Kelvin’s a great guy. I think TGBFTL’s performance quality is noticeably lacking compared to what it was under Wickes and Morehouse, but it was slipping long before Kevin got the gig (see Roy King). I want to see how things progress the next couple years with no covid shenanigans.

I wouldn’t piss on Talley if he was on fire. He can go get f$&ked.

I'm not against this train of thought....BUT if they were "just having fun" how would this have even gotten out? I mean once it's out Title IX basically mandates some action by the school and authorities.

Yeah it doesn’t sound like it’s that much of a stretch for it to fall under Title IX. He’s a state employee working security for LSU in an official capacity.

That said, if the university immediately opened a Title IX investigation and LSP immediately opened their own investigation, then it doesn’t sound like anything has been swept under the rug. It’s only been 2 weeks since that game. It’s bad PR for the university, but it seems way too soon to really say they mishandled anything. To me it looks worse for LSP.. just my opinion though.

Agree. It is being handled by staff and procedures guided by Title IX. It isn't a Title IX issue.
