LSU men's baseball operated at a loss of $921,607 for the 2025 fiscal year (covering July 2024 to June 2025)
Probably half of that $921K was spent for the 12-13 day stay in Omaha.
I don't know the real numbers, but say there are 75 people in the group times twelve days times $400 per diem each = $360,000 plus a chartered round trip flight. Total could easily be close to $500,000.
That half a million would not have been spent if the team did not win the super regional, but then LSU wouldn't have been national champions.

UCONN, SC, Texas all lose similar amounts- you think their brands do not make many times that????

Give all the money to baseball, frick womens basketball.

The numbers aren't even remotely close. Hell I bet McMahon turned a profit a few years here
Men's basketball will always turn a profit because of SEC TV revenue sharing. LSU gets the same cut as the top-level programs.

That was my point. The exposure of the brand is worth the expense of Omaha that makes the bottom line look worse than it really is.

Funny how you make this statment based on your personal opinion.

Just because you dont like or dont watch womens basketball dont assume others feel the same way.
If it was nearly as popular as the media make it out to be then the tv contracts would reflect that. They dont, which is why WBB loses a shite ton of money.
Not a single WBB program in the country turns a profit.

The current LSU Baseball staffing payroll is more than 50% more than it was in Spring of 2025. The next baseball deficit will be significantly more than that $900K+.

Al LSU, we chase rings, not profits.
Posted on 4/1/26 at 4:17 pm to Covingtontiger77
I remember in the 90s with pear LSU baseball we didnt turn a profit....only FB and MBB turned a profit
also on the salaries, how much of the salary is coming from the athletic department and how much is from TAF (or boosters)
without large TV contracts no sport will turn a profit in todays world, so just mens BB and FB have those deals......

Some people on this board don't understand basic economics. No matter if a sport makes $$ or not, LSU brand overwhelmingly affects the economy. LSU sports brings in $1.5 billion annually to Louisiana's economy. Since Mulkey arrived, LSU has seen record-breaking new student applications every year. To your logic, every team that loses $$, men or women, should be done away with. Tell that logic to Uconn, all of their sports lose $$ and subsidized, including FB, MBB, WBB, but their Uconn sports bring in almost $300 million to their state's economy.

Valid point- LSU/UF CWS Championship game 3 million viewers. LSU WBB Iowas Championship game 7.5 million viewers

The only sport that needs to be run like a business is football because it is a business. Not everything is supposed to make a profit.

Agree with your comments. Actually LSU WBB championship game peaked at 12.3 million views. LSU baseball championship game peaked at 2.86 million views. LSU is also known internationally--when we wore our LSU gear international travel, people in Mexico, Caribbean, Europe, and Asia automatically recognized LSU.

Can't believe baseball is not making more.

Then divert that money to the Baseball program.
I've read LSU spent more on their roster than any other SEC School this year.
I think some are confusing the $20 million NIL allocation with total spending.
I don't think money is the issue some are making it out to be with baseball.

The only reason football and basketball make so much is due to tv contracts, bowls, CFP, and the NCAA tournament.

Some people are just myopic when it comes to college sports. They think revenue generated is black and white ,make money or lose money ,they are incapable of grasping the big picture.Every body gasped when ALA paid NS what they did but the man brought in 100 of millions over his tenure as coach in donations increased student applications and admissions and university exposure.Im here to tell you that the same increases in enrollment and donations has incurred at LSU because of KM,JJ,and soon LK,WW.Maybe not the huge amount as NS did but it is significant.
