re: À WBB question for 357

Vetting process takes much longer from Russia, delays with very limited exceptions, especially since their invasion of Ukraine. US has suspended most immigration visas from Russia (exception for elite athletes). All US consular's offices in Russia are closed. They have to go to other countries (who have diplomatic ties to US) to process their immigration paperwork and interview. Some of those countries who are processing Russian visas are overwhelmed and also strict in vetting process with long wait times for appointments.
Jordyn Lyden from MN committed to LSU. Beam, floor, and bars.

Anna Cashion committed to Clemson.

Yes, LSU was #1 in country in bench points, avg 43 points/game. Kim did use bench players regularly. Only Meghan had minimal minutes. Starters only played 20-26 minutes, depending on the team we played against, the rest spread among bench players. Unlike some teams who use their starters 35-40 minutes, and bench players barely played.
Per TigerRag.com:
Larry was one of the top point guards available in the portal, averaging 13.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game. She brings valuable experience, having started 57 of 59 games at Tennessee Tech while averaging 30.7 minutes per contest. Overall shooting 38.4% over 2 seasons, high volume of 3-point attempts, she averaged 5.8 attempts from beyond the arc per game last season, shooting 34.6% from 3-point range. Larry played point guard at Parkway High School alongside Mikaylah Williams for 3 seasons.
Poole former 5-star recruit, ranked #24, McDonald's AA. Surprising she has not done well, except at LSU.
Samyah Smith committed to Oklahoma. Will be an interesting game this season, see how LSU plays against Samyah.

Takes much longer to get paperwork and F1 visa completed and approved from Russia since invasion of Ukraine.
It's communist Russia and it takes longer to bring in athletes compared to other countries (after invasion of Ukraine). They don't have in-country visa processing. Visa services in Russia were suspended, forcing applicants to travel to 3rd world countries to get appointments in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Serbia, Thailand. US State Dept heightened and tightened rules for Russian citizens, increasing vetting times. As of 2026, there are only 4 Russians playing in Ncaa wbb, compared to Spain (163), Canada (149), Australia (113).

*Correction: Only 2 Russian WBB players in Ncaa coz the 4 were for 2025-2026. Guessing the other 2 went on to play pros. As of now only 2 for 2026-2027 (one is at UNC). LSU would make it 3.
Don't forget to add Yarnevich, 6'2" forward.
Lampley is not small, she is same height 6'2" as Knox. She played primarily Power Forward in HS. But she is athletic and versatile to play Wing too. It's nice we have more height this year and more balanced.
She is both F/W. She has played both in HS. She is 6'2" same height as Knox. If Kim doesn't get another Post, she may put Lampley in as Post. Kim is moving Johnson to Wing since she is undersized for Post.

LSU was ranked #1 in the country in bench points. Divine had her chances to play more minutes, but she looked lost at times, turned the ball over, or commit a foul. Maybe it's as simple as not being a good fit at Lsu.
I think Kate Koval will step up this season, she has 1-year in Kim's system. Jr and Sr years are typically the optimal years. She has Coach Page to help her improve her skills. Page was one of the best Post players and played against the best players in the Wnba for 11 years, and Spain, Italy and Brazil. She is known as an elite Post Development Specialist. Coach Anthony coached both Posts and Guards. Koval, Morro, Knox, and Lampley are in good hands.
Both new assistant coaches Anthony and Page from Miami have a lot of experience recruiting international players. Both coaches have deep international ties. Anthony recruited international players at Miami and HS/AAU. Page played in the Wnba, as well as played in Spain, Italy, and Brazil. And Page coached the Canadian national team. There are a lot of talented and experienced pro players oversees. This year there are 1,500 international players on WBB rosters. Look at Uconn, Ucla, USC-w, they usually have 3-5 international players on their rosters every year. Looks like LSU's international recruiting is starting to pay off. This is an exciting strategy for LSU.
O'Neal said she doesn't want to play Post/Center. She wants to carve her own path and play Guard/Wing and shoot mostly mid-range and 3s. LSU needs Post/Center and strong rebounding. I think Kim knew she wasn't good fit at LSU.
Chloe is a true PG. Graduated same year as Jada Richard. Played with Mikaylah at same Parkway HS and was Mikaylah's PG. Jada was #1 PG in LA and Chloe was #2 PG. She has speed, quick feet, and lockdown defender. She is a 3-pt shooter. Nickname is "silent assassin." She appears to be a solid pickup. Numbers are solid. **Interesting tidbit--nationally ranked #4 softball player and played softball with Mikaylah.
Players will play anywhere in the country. Grace Knox is from CA (via Las Vegas).

re: WBB: Did Morro sign with LSU?

It's more than just 2 governments who don't agree. Kate's father is in Kyiv past 4 years fighting in the war against Russia. He is in the military and stayed behind in Kyiv to help defend their home city against Russian invasion. How Kate will handle it since her father is still fighting in the war. Kyiv has been heavily bombed. It will be interesting how Kim will manage them.
Just curious--Do international players who come to US speak fluent English? Are there any language barriers? You have to admire them for coming to the US at young age, many of them without their families.
According to Tigerag.com, she has 1-year eligibility left. Will be 22 yo this December.

Morro will have 4 years NCAA eligibility. She will be a mature, older player, already experienced playing pro ball. She is 21 yo now but will be 22 yo when she starts her freshman year at LSU.

*CORRECTION: per Tigerrag.com today..."Morro will have one year of eligibility, though it is currently unclear whether she will be classified as a transfer or international signee."

She competed 4 years elite level in EuroLeague, EuroCup, and the Spanish top professional league against elite competition.
