- Foul Outs - At bats with 2 strikes where the batter just keeps fouling it off can get pretty tedious. Once a player gets 2 strikes, give them one more foul and then they are out.

- Or start with a 1-1 count - Works well in softball leagues to speed up the game

This is an important part of getting to a pitcher and would eliminate good at-bats.

It's not the minor league ball. The core isn't the same.

Well, I believe if college baseball made some significant changes to improve the sport, then it could compete a little better with college football and the final four. Instead, it is in the ballpark of lacrosse and softball.

And if what you say is true, and those changes are made and work...That means we have to deal with even more people, like yourself, that seems to lower the general IQ of the population.

Now, let's freak up a sport you like and see what you think. You know... Since you wanna freak ours up.

Basketball:

-You miss 3 shots in a row, you are out. Done. No one replaces you. When all 5 members of one side is out, the team with remaining players get 5 free throws. Then everyone comes back to the court.

-If you foul someone, you sit for 2 mins. Just like hockey.

- Raise the goal another 3 feet

-24 second clock. And if you get a shot clock violation, the other team is awarded 2 points.

There. See what I did, I completely changed a game you and many others love so I would love it too.

other than LSU traditionally being good in baseball, and this thread being about baseball, what the frick does this have to do with LSU?

with your logic I can make a daily weather thread on the rant because "traditionally" it has rained at LSU

Some of us at work have this idea for fixing basketball.
If any game goes into OT, all players on both teams are replaced with midgets.
The court and the goal are left the same.

Tell me that wouldn't be entertaining.

I am already a baseball fan, so my IQ would already be included in the average LSU baseball fan IQ.

Also, according to your post history, you watch wrestling.

No reason to change basketball. As I pointed out, the tv ratings for college basketball are very high and the sport has great popularity. Unfortunately, college baseball does not and could use some tweaking.

you're extremely naive to the game of baseball, then. quite literally every single one of those suggestions you made is ridiculous

You left out the obvious ones.

-Traveling is an enforceable rule

-Same goes for carrying & double dribbles

-Enforce the actual contact rules of the game (if the shooter jumps into the defender, the foul is on the shooter)

-Call the defender for a technical if they run under a player in the air. That play is more dangerous than accidently hacking a player over the shoulder.

I'm 5'5". By basketball standards, I am a midget. Think they will pay be decent money to be an OT midget?

I am already an OT midget because I am short and don't bang OT 10's everyday; nor make OT money according to the OT board standard... So I wanna get paid.

I wish ya'll wouldn't jump all over that guy on his rant. I think we do need to speed up the game, for many reasons. I agree with his suggestions and I have another. Make both teams run on and off the field every inning. It's a little thing but might save 15 minutes on a 3 hour game. I see the pitcher and infield walk off in slow motion looking pi----- off or disgusted with something. They need to run off and the other team run on. No earphones yet, but we need to speed the game up. Wasting pitchers warm-ups after being on the sideline for 30 minutes warming up, is a good idea. Have the next pitcher warm and ready to run in and start pitching. Speed it up.

Not a single idea you suggested is good. I disagree with every single one of them.

Nice try, but you'll never get as many downvotes as the anti-rally thread.

to the OP - you'll get flamed, but you're headed the right direction. Baseball is a very slow sport with little action. It needs a severe jolt.

Your suggestions may be sacrilege to the purists who think the rules were given to Moses on Mount Sanai, but to rationale thinkers, they all make enough sense to at least consider. Hell, I'd even move the mound back 6 feet and take a defender off the field to open up hitting lanes. But that's just me - I like offense and get no tingle in a 2-1 pitchers duel.
