The same shite used to happen under Miles. We struggled against Troy in 2008. We struggled against Towson State a few years back.

We beat those teams though. And some of the games like Towson, were never in doubt.

I have not seen it used as a mark against him. but I do not see why a missed XP is reason to celebrate.

similarly I dont understand how LSU's win over Florida last year is not celebrated by many on here. Its used as a mark against O.

I think people use it as a counter argument. Well we almost beat so and so, well we almost lost to UF. Or how people say, if we played Troy later in the year we would have won, well what if we played UF or Auburn later in the year? We win those?

The fact is we beat UF, but lost to Troy. You can't change that. Just like in 08, we beat Troy.

We can go through every fricking game and play the what ifs.

Sure, but we've allowed those games to be too close. Those were supposed to be gimme games wherin the starters were sitting on the bench with 10 minutes left in the third quarter. Sooner or later playing to the level of your opponent catches up with you and an opportunistic program takes advantage of that fact like Troy

This has been going on since the 1980's. Anybody remember the Miami, OH game in 1986. I do, I was there and that was a week after LSU had manhandled a ranked TAMU team. On paper, that game should not have been close. There was literally no excitement that night in the stadium, the Troy game this last year felt much the same

so let me get this straight:

Les Miles played teams too close.
Because Les Miles played teams too close, LSU was living on borrowed time and was only a matter of when, not if, the underdog would spring the upset.

And so, despite having been fired in September 2016, one year later, in September 2017, the fact that Miles played down to his competition far too often finally caught up with our beloved Tigers in a tragic homecoming loss to the Trojans of Troy.

am I understanding this right?

Because if so, you need to unplug your computer and throw it away and never post here again.

Sometimes the blame has to be on the players....so in Saban’s first year....he could not get his players ready to beat ULM at home?

We know Saban is a great coach based on his track record....so who’s fault was it? Maybe his players were just not ready yet...it takes time to learn a new system...a coach is not a miracle worker....

And also, the defensive line was not the only line that was depleted.....you had Will Clapp playing center for LSU after playing guard for early part of his tenure...he was inexperienced.....tehuma left the school for academic reasons....we had two true freshmen on the line......what did you expect to happen?

this is a silly arse argument. You can be "ready" on every play and still frick up. Don't give me this shite.

Would you agree that well coached teams make less mistakes?

You’re a complete fricking moron comparing losing to Troy last year to losing to Houston in 1999.

At this point it pretty much breaks down to one group believes the coaches have a responsibility to get players ready to play at their best and another group that thinks it's on the players to make plays. I think it's a good discussion. Only problem is, no one is going to change their minds.

I just hope that the experience somehow benefits the team in the future. If you're gonna have a loss like that, at least learn something from it and apply it to the games to come.

I just watched the entire season without bias, and I believe the players just did not play up to O's level. Those losses were not on him as they were on O and the offensive playcalling that was implemented. This year you will see more of O's leadership

Like not having your OC run Cam Cameron plays anymore.

Hahahaha ... that, but more importantly, maybe the leaders on the team and the coaches will be able to recognize poor practice the week leading up to the game. Maybe they can use the Troy loss when they see other players getting tired at practice or in the weight room. Any little thing that they can use it for as motivation. Just please don't let it be for nothing at all.

Can we also agree that a player can do everything right from a schematic standpoint and a technical standpoint and he can still get beat (on a block or route), but if the other player opposite you is simply stronger and faster than you.....then the reason the play failed is because of the player.....
