Lets face it JJ sucks. The problem is that is all we got. Les cannot re cute a qb that will stay at Lsu. If I was a top qb, I would go some where that had a good qb coach.

there are threads analyzing Miles contract, asking for it to be stickied.
you may need to assign a person just to looking for anti-Miles threads because they are rampant.
I just replied to one in which the OP was whining that the spread was not covered. Really.

OK, dumbest post in the history of the rant.

Bravo. It`s apparent many of those that criticize the most have no clue what they are talking about.

GrayTiger,
How old are you?
I hope like hell you aren't an LSU grad...
It may have escaped your attention but apparel and memorabillia sales for lSU are among the highest in the NCAA and amount to millions annually. The broader public's support and perception of the team translates in to a huge amount of money.

My age is listed in my profile. I have a BA from LSU and MBA from the University of Pennsylvania.
It certainly hasn't escaped my attetion, which is why I posted the article and the link. Didn't you check it out?
LSU has a nice national folowing, a lot from the Louisiana people that fled the state for jobs. As long as LSU plays on television and plays big time opponents, the recognition will still be there. Fortunately most of the rest of the country is immune to Saban's "catastrophy Syndrome" that infects many LSU fans.
Playing a thrilling game that kept people in their chairs for the entire game is likely to generate more interest and therefore more sales than a blow out where a sizeable chunk of the national audience got bored and tuned into Gilligan's Island reruns at half time.

Watch what you say about our players. None of them "suck". You don't suck and get to play football for LSU. You can criticize their play, but don't belittle them in the process. We will be very watchful of these attacks and have been removing posts (and users) since the game on Saturday. Additionally, quit asking for Miles or any other coach to be fired. Like you, I watched the game and wasn't happy with how we finished. But, perhaps unlike some of you, I saw glimmers of hope and believe that teams can improve when they work on correcting their mistakes. It was the first game. We are 1-0. Half the teams that played this past weekend cannot say that.
Wow. The sane lsu fan does exist. Thank goodness the owner of this site wrote this. I didn't wanna have to tune out for the season on week 1 after a win.

So you learned at Penn that as longas the games are exciting, the fans really don't care if you win or how you win?
I have friends at Notre Dame and Michigan who would argue with that. The revenues for those schools, historically at the very top, haven't been immune to the effects of the on-the-field mediocrity you are advocating.

Agreed with orginal post
if a player comes in and represents the university well, and is working hard he is above reproach. If he doesn't perform well ultimately it is the coaches fault for not coaching him up or picking someone with out the needed talent.
For the coaching staff critcism I just can't believe their are some unhappy tigers. I didn't like saturday, but try to remember the days when it was really exciting to get to the indy bowl. If Miles has a losing season then we need to start looking at what is going on.
In addition, I can't believe the people celebrating UNC. You really want that for LSU to play well despite a very ebarassing academic and agent related rule violation. Really?
How many national titles did Tom Osborne win in 20 something years at Nebraska?

We are talking exposure and marketing here. Fans care. Some demand outrageous victory margins, others just want wins. But for the casual observer, watching an exciting game is more fun than ablow out. Hard core fans will still buy stuff. The target market is those fans that don't have deep seated loyalties. They are the ones that you reach by displaying an exciting product. Many casual fans have stuff from several teams. The wear winners. How big the margin of victory isn't critical.
Notre Dame and Michigan are still pulling in the bucks. Always will. When they get exciting again, they will pull in more.

Thanks! I saw alot of improvement Saturday too. We still our work cut out or us. Can we also remove some of the people I work with from my jobsite for making the same comments? My life would be much better

the td passes to randle and shep were nice as was the one to the TE down the seam. cant remember which TE it was. He seemed more aware. I dunno. Just scary that outside of the big play he only had 100 yards.
Ok this is one of my pet peeves with critics, not just on here, but out in the general public as well. He "can't remember which TE it was". Not sure, maybe it was out of a two tight end set off of play action. Maybe it was first down maybe it was 3rd down. Maybe the OC set the play up with other play calls and formations or maybe he didn't.
My point is, how can you criticize when you don't really know the game? If you are going to criticize you should know the number and name of every player in the two deep and his position and class year for starters. If you are going to take it upon yourself to criticize specifics and not just speak in general terms, then to me you have an obligation to fully understand the game on a detailed level. Too many critics are just casual observers and care not only about perceived performance but perceptions that are many times colored by their ignorance of the game.
I'm not saying you don't have the right to enjoy the game on whatever level you choose...but IF YOU CHOOSE TO CRITICIZE, then you have an obligation to educate yourself and immerse yourself in the minutiae of LSU football so you at least can make a fair and informed criticizim.
