Sorry these images are so small. After 8500 posts, you'd think I would know how to post an image.

I'm hoping the OP will update the title of this thread to note the LSU connection.

Good Morning. No updates. Megan is still missing.

To answer some questions:
She's from Denver. She grew up there. Her dad is from Shreveport and graduated from LSU. They are my cousins. Her dad is and has always been a close friend. I've known Megan since she was a baby.

Pink hair: she likes it. She's a musician and a smart, responsible young woman with a stable home life. This is HIGHLY unusual.

Some of you know me and are friends on FB (Owlie, I'm looking @ you). She's good people. Please pass it along/help if you can.

outside of a loss of power, there really isn't a reason to evacuate from the warehouse district. immediately after Katrina it was mostly operable, save the lack of power in places that did not have a huge generator.

My building has a generator for hall lights and elevators, but not the apartments. Our cars are on the 4th floor with us. This place is a concrete bunker. I feel pretty safe

Here in Warehouse district. Just watching the rain and wind. I can see 90 and I'm surprised there are people heading towards the CCC in this wind.
Thanks for putting this together, Rummy. I’m glad to be able to do something to help.
I’ve been here longer than some of these people have been alive. I think I deserve a t-shirt for that alone.

I didn’t read the rest. Was there another question?

Yep. Ticket shopping now.
Cafe Zydeco owner is from Abbeville.

Rio Sabinas and Chop House restaurants are owned by the Morans, who own TJ Ribs etc

Nationally known companies based in Bozeman include Newport/ILX Lightwave, Quantel USA, RightNow Technologies, Gibson Guitar Corporation, and Simms Fishing Products.

That list is old. Right Now sold out to Oracle about 5 years ago, so now Oracle is one of Bozeman's biggest employers.

Interestingly, Right Now was co-founded by Montana's new congressman Greg Gianforte, who made a name for himself last week when he body slammed a pesky reporter the day before the special election.

On another note, the biggest knock on Bozeman is that housing prices are high and wages are pitifully low. I have always worked remotely. Many people there do.

There are (I think) 11 craft breweries in a town of roughly 40k people.

Yep, Bozeman.

I agree with HoustonChick. Live where you can afford based on what suits you. There's not a bad neighborhood in town and you have distinct options if you're a new house person or an old house person. There's plenty of decent food and lots of great craft beer. If you like good ethnic food, the choices are slim but overall Bozeman is a great town. It's hard to go wrong.

Bridger Bowl - Bozeman, MT

Bridger is a locals mountain. If you're going to come to Bozeman, ski Big Sky. I'm guessing you picked it because of the airport proximity. It's close, but there's no place to stay on the hill.

Clark, if you live anywhere in Louisiana, just look out the window. This is May in Montana. Snowing, sleeting or 40 and raining. Take your pick.

I'm glad you enjoyed Big Sky. It's awesome. Just do us all a favor and don't tell anyone else.

You should move. We left Baton Rouge 12 years ago and have never regretted it. I work remotely, which you pretty much have to do if you want to make any money. That's the drawback

I'm in Bozeman.

Agree that Beartooth is a must. I've driven it Memorial Day weekend when the walls of snow were 12 feet high on either side of where the plow came through, and in the fall when they were about to close it. It's so cool.

I've never skied Whitefish. A group of friends an family are going there this January. I will be in New Orleans and am really bummed to miss it. We ski Big Sky.

Where is a good area to stay in the spring or fall?

My recommendation is to focus on Montana in the fall. "Spring" here is just an extension of winter and will last all the way in to June.

Fall in Montana is spectacular and it is a great time to visit the parks because the crowds are so much smaller. I have lived in Bozeman, near Yellowstone for 12 years. It's a great base for a Yellowstone trip. It's a college town with lots of activity and unlimited access to hiking and fishing.

Yellowstone and Glacier are very different. If you have time to see both parks in one trip, it would be a very cool contrast and you would get to traverse most of the state. Bozeman to Whitefish is about a 5 hour drive and it is beautiful.

Montana: Blackfoot Single Malt IPA

I've never tried this one. There's a lot of good IPA in Montana. Most of it at small breweries.

Oregon: Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA

I will defer to the Oregon experts that this one is not the best, but it's delicious. It's on tap all over MT, and is my grocery store go-to IPA.

re: I made oyster dressing for the first time

I came here to look for tips on oyster dressing, and as usual, this board delivers.

It's not something I've made before and I volunteered to make it for Thanksgiving. I found a bunch of different recipes with sausage, bacon and ground beef.

Does anyone have strong opinions either way? I saw a suggestion for John Besh's recipe - he uses slab bacon.
