The architecture firm really did a disservice to the fans. Of course they probably had Skip telling them to cut costs left and right. It was bland when it was built and only gotten worse.

Skip sold that shite as the fans begged for this. The magic of our 90s era bleachers

What a lot of our fans have a problem with is separating Skip (the coach) with Skip (the AD). Greatest baseball coach ever. Cheap miser AD. Instead of building a grand palace to truly honor the greatest baseball program of our generation, Skip (the AD) went cheap.
I’ll never understand his thinking of keeping the bullpens on the field. It was outdated long before the old box was torn down. Bring bleachers from the old box (to bring the magic) was just being cheap. Period. Not having chairbacks built all the way down the lines was just cheap.
One thing that a lot our fans don’t realize is that LSU Baseball makes far, far more money than the #2 team in revenue. LSU charges significantly more, and it’s not even close, than anyone else with suites and grandstand seats.
The LSU fans deserve a far better venue
Than what we have.

The Pmac has an argument since it’s bottom of the barrel and does host one sport that makes money and another that has the possibility to break even.
The other two need to wait behind the box.

Meanwhile the Vandy fB stadium is an embarrassment …. If they were in CUSA. It’s beyond that for a SEC school.

Both swimming and T&F are bringing in world class athletes. The natatorium is nearly 40 years old & I don’t believe has ever seen a renovation.
T&F has seen some renovations but there’s still a lot to be desired, especially from a fan perspective.

Our coach hates them on the field too.
I’m aware he wants them moved, and they will get moved in the near future. And he can push for what he thinks best helps his team.
But as for the fans, and that’s what what this thread is about, there are far more important issues.

The problem you have is those are non revenue producing sports. They can wait to get us an upgraded box.
Frankly we should have enough to fund all the projects

The thing I’d LOVE to see changed as well as miss the most from the old AB is how close the seats were to the field, specifically behind home plate.
It 100% gave us a real or more of a home field advantage with fans screaming into the ears of the opponents batters. Man I miss that.

Anyone else not super impressed by Vandy's upgrades? It's different, I'll give them that. The only thing I saw and thought "that would be really cool at LSU" was the Home Run Deck.

Could easily see that happening, it would allow them to sell a few more club rows and make tons of money. Too bad we wouldn’t have access to the new seats. They would all be bought up by TAF or high ranking members to resell.

I don't think it was the architecture firm. If you go back and read what was being said at the time, the priorities were two things from Skip himself: 1) build suites and a club, and 2) make it as much like old Alex Box as possible.
I think where we all get sideways about the architecture firm is that, they actually did do that. The problem is, that absolutely sucked in 2009, and it still sucks today. The objectives were wrong. Other stadium projects appear to focus on broader fan experiences. It's why you get some pretty cool things, not just nostalgia with a place to drink alcohol pre-in stadium sales.
LSU didn't even do its shitty conception right. When the Box opened it was unfinished by design and looked unfinished because, rather than if you build it they will come on the suites, they weren't confident they would sell them and left the erector set on the grand stand. Might as well just have painted a huge sign saying THIS IS UNFINISHED on your brand new stadium.

That is one of the worst parts about Alex box is it opened out of date. We basically drug our old stadium a bit over slapped a better roof on it and put in better grand stand seats and added a club for fan experience.
I vividly remember walking into the new stadium in 2009, looking around, and thinking THIS is what all the fuss is about? Sure it was newer and nicer than the old Box, but it didn't feel like it was remarkably better. I was living out of state prior to 2009 and had gone to a few minor league ballparks that were relatively new (built in the early 2000's). They all seemed so much better than the new Box, which was kind of sad considering LSU is BR's de facto minor league team and LSU loved to tout itself as the "home of college baseball". It didn't take long for other SEC schools with FAR less history and fan interest to quickly surpass the box as the nation's "best stadium" (assuming it ever was...even for a minute).
If you are going to boast that "this is college baseball" (which is on the sign facing Nicholson, should it at least look like a fantastic place to "live" rather than a 90's McMansion sitting in a neighborhood of beautiful houses?

You guys cry about the dumbest things. It’s an advantage for LSU to have bullpens on the field because we play and practice with them all season while many other teams don’t. The fact that this is public enemy one for our fans about that park is laughable.
Yeah thats a great point. Why dont we put a few storm drains in the infield and maybe plant a tree in center field to get even more of an advantage

And lets keep the windscreen batters eye while we're at it. We shouldnt give up such a great advantage to have.
Having a shitty ballpark is all part of the master plan.
