Can we now , finally, put to bed the notion of Tate being anything but completely open to hiring coaches of any race.

I know there was a group of people saying Tate is the one who wanted to fire wade so that he could bring in a black coach.
I just thought I’d start a thread to say that I think he’s done a good job so far with the things that I’ve seen him involved in.

Let’s put the” crt king “title to bed please

He built his academic career on writing about CRT. While it may nothing to do with the coaching searches over which he’s presided, there is nothing wrong with mentioning CRT and Tate in the same sentence.

The timing of the Tate hire in the middle of COVID did not help either. JBE was doing the bidding of the Biden Administration so LSU had to do the bidding of JBE. It sucked but looking back is was all basically lip service. Tate's COVID dictates were marginally enforced but he put up enough of a show to get those federal dollars.

Tate has been cool thus far.

However, don't think for a second I'm not sleeping with one eye open on that dude regarding CRT. I will give credit when due, but his history of political views aren't invisible.

Do your job and keep leftist ideology out of it and he won't hear a peep from fans of the school with brains. He's a smart man and I hope his talents are used to better LSU as he has shown to this point.

Ultimately, coaches can be proposed by Woodward, Tate, etc. , but the guys that pay the bills make the final call.

People should just let the man do his job. He's done very well so far. I'm open to seeing what he can do to help the university as long as people truly give him a chance to do it.

That’s true, I was under the impression that he wrote one paper on it

Actually had the pleasure of playing golf with Tate a few weeks ago. One of the nicest and classiest men I have ever met.

Tate has done a good job so far. He clearly recognizes the advantages a good athletic department brings.

He hasn’t been here very long. So he probably feels he doesn’t have enough goodwill built up to start forcing potentially unpopular decisions (assuming he even wanted to). Particularly on the athletic side. Plus, all of the athletic hires have been reasonable.

Kelly has tremendous credentials. What black HC out there could you say ON MERIT has equal or better credentials?

Same for Mulkey. However, she was replacing a black female who had been the HC for quite a while with minimal success. It’s not as if “racist” LSU didn’t give a black coach a shot.

In men’s basketball LSU had a 9 year period with black HC’s. The first had 3 straight below average to bad seasons before choosing to leave for another job. The second was here for 5 seasons, with marginal success, before bottoming out the program in his final year.

LSU hasn’t been reluctant to hire black coaches. But at some point ALL coaches are asked to produce, regardless of race

Crazy thing is I have been far more impressed with Tate than Woodward

I would have called you crazy a year or so ago if you told me that.

If black people are 6x more likely to go to prison than white people, the only way to explain that is either CRT or saying black people are just naturally more inclined to be criminals because they are black. Unless you are a blatant racist, it's obvious which one it is. CRT has nothing to do with dislike of white people. Some of us just don't want to admit our privilege because we feel like it threatens our perception of our "hard work." I was one of them for a LONG while. That's not Tate's fault. It never was. People just wanted the opportunity to invalidate CRT by insinuating only racist black people would support it. This place is full of strawmen.

When Tate was hired, the vast majority of the posts on here were negative, plain and simple.

I withheld judgment simply because I had no idea.

Since then, most comments on here have been positive and from what I've seen from afar, he'd done alright.

Typical of the Rant though, most on here jump the gun before they have facts.
