I remember buying multiple "FUSC" stickers my freshman year in 2004.

It was 20 years ago. Time to let it go, laddie. You can get your revenge September 1st. I expect LSU to win by double digits. I would rather see an Oregon vs. LSU match-up.

USC’s 2003 “title” is a joke but hard to make the case 2004 isn’t legit. Either way it’s a washout and they have one title since Carter imo.

For instance, why in 1998 when Tennessee finished 12-0 everyone said they were the champion when Tulane also finished 12-0?

...

It’s interesting that when it comes down to 2003, LSU was ahead of USC in each of the above categories. LSU's body of work was vastly superior to USC's.

while agree that LSU was better than USC in 2003, these two aren't even close to compatible.

Tulane's 1998 schedule was an absolute joke compared to Tennessee's
Tennessee's SoS was 70+ spots higher than Tulane's.
LSU's was less than 10 spots higher than USC's.

Tennessee played the same number of ranked teams on opening day of '98 as Tulane played in all of '97, '98, & '99 combined.
by week 2, Tennessee had played as many top 10 teams as Tulane played from 1994-2002 combined.

Tulane and Tennessee had 1 common opponent (Houston)
Tulane Beat them by 18.
Tennessee beat them by 41.

LSU and USC each played the same number of top 10 teams (3)

LSU and USC had 1 common opponent (Auburn)
USC beat them by 23.
LSU beat them by 24.

LSU each had 1 loss.
each to a conference foe that finished with 8 wins

So yeah, LSU was ahead of USC in pretty much every category, but it was at least close enough to have to argument about who really was better.
I think LSU would have beat USC in 2003. But I think it would have been a damn good game.

In 1998, Tennessee would have skull fricked Tulane and starters would have been watching the game by mid 3rd quarter.

BCS is the genus and the AP and Coaches votes are the species. Both the AP and Coaches polls are subsumed by the BCS.

If this were true, why did the BCS contract with the Coaches’ Poll to name the winner of the BCS title game as their champion and present their trophy to the winner? If the polls truly lacked relevance, why did they need them to legitimize their champion?

USC and LSU are both national champions in the NCAA records for 2003. Sorry

The AP poll was not contractually obligated to vote for the winner of the BCS National Championship Game. They reserved the right to name their own national champion.

The only reason the Coaches Poll voted for us is they were contractually obligated to do so. The AP was not obligated to do so. The general consensus was that USC was the best team that year, so we’re lucky that the Coaches Poll was obligated to vote for us.

No, this is NOT a troll. It’s the honest truth of the matter.

We don’t care about press votes. Or any other vote for that matter.

LSU won the title game.

At the end of the day everyone agreed to the system before the start of the system and that system amounted to a 2 team playoff

they didn't make the playoff (debate away on whether or not they should of)

the winner of that playoff was the nc: LSU

it is irrelevant if somebody else thought USC was better (they weren't anyway, imo)

You’re free to care about whatever you want, but your opinion doesn’t change facts or history. LSU and USC are both listed as legitimate champions for 2003 in the NCAA’s official records, and there’s not a damn thing we LSU fans can do about it.

Sure there is. We can continue to remind everyone, including the same 5 “intellectuals” with your technicalities that only LSU won the only title game that year. Historical fact.

USC did get some AP votes for the books though so I guess that’s cool.
