I hope whoever sees the field in his spot in the first half takes a pick-6 to the house.

Or destroys Klubnik on a Safety blitz

The clarification for the ejection was made post game. Not today. The suspension has been in effect since post game. Not today. That’s why the BYU player was suspended for the bowl game.

Anyone who thinks LSU didnt know about the suspension before today is an idiot. LSU was just not trying to publicize this.

How retarded is Brian Kelly that he had no clue this was a possibility until 3 days before the season began. Incompetent.

Except there weren’t an ejection in this last game to be concerned about.

Was he not ejected in 4th qtr of the last game of the regular season against BYU???? Yes, he was, therefore he would have to sit out the first half of the next seasons game... if the ejection was for fighting or if not for fighting then he would be good.

I don't understand how fans don't understand that this situation could have been addressed before the kid ever put on an LSU practice uniform. Had they done things right, BK could have been out in front of this the day the kid signed.

the NCAA tells ESPN. Per the NCAA: “In the last game of the 2024 season, A.J. Haulcy was ejected from the contest, initially listed as unsportsmanlike conduct
but clarified postgame that game officials ejected the player for fighting. Fighting carries an automatic carryover penalty.”

The incident happened on November 30, 2024. The other player involved, BYU WR, who was also ejected, had to sit out the first half of their bowl game. The rule has been in place for a while that if a player does something to warrant a suspension in a game, he has to serve the suspension in the next game. Even if that is the opening game the following season.

With those being the facts, how the frick is this issue just now being decided 2 days before the game? It seems pretty clear if and when Haulcy would have to serve a suspension should have been known 9 months ago if the NCAA's statement that it "clarified postgame that game officials ejected the player for fighting" is accurate.

Does the NCAA not keep a database, list, etc of guys who get ejected in their final game who have to serve a suspension in the next game? Do they just tell the individual schools/conferences that its on them to remember to enforce the penalty. Did LSU, the SEC, the NCAA just forget the guy got ejected in his last game for fighting (as the NCAA said it confirmed postgame) until today...or when someone reminded them?

This should have been a pretty straightforward issue know WELL before today.

It was "clarified" to Houston coaches via letter. How would LSU know about this if the publicly available information indicated otherwise. Is Houston required to tell LSU?

I know if I was a lower tier school and my best player left to play at a bigger school, I wouldn't do anything to help facilitate that transaction.

This is the NCAA's job. It's one of like 5 things they still have left to do in college athletics, and they fricked it up.

So when LSU sends their new players through the “clearinghouse” you mean to tell me that LSU didn’t receive notice this guy already was imposed a suspension? I have a hard time believing this, considering it takes 5 seconds to google whether the BYU player was suspended.

Brian Kelly can try to spin this all he wants through Moscona, but he’s going to come out on the other side acting or looking like an idiot if they don’t acknowledge they knew a recruited and signed portal player had a suspension for fighting in his very last football game played.

Wtf are you talking about? It was a
Unsportsmanlike conduct which doesn’t carry over to a suspension for a half.. they apparently switched it in December 2024 after the game.

This just seems like Houston didn't notify LSU of the suspension (if it actually happened). Houston probably doesn't have to notify anybody if the player is no longer enrolled.

This seems like something the NCAA would have done, but they know frick all and have been proving themselves incompetent for awhile now. And less power.

But yall flickers acting like he's suspended for the whole season are fricking retards (i.e. you aren't not recruiting a player just because he potentially has to sit the first half of the first game).

Need to fire Kelly. Whole staff is clueless and doesn't even put in the effort to determine if hired guns are eligible. Ausberry needs to go also for opening games that make or break the season. LSU should be playing SELU this week and Houston or Rutgers in week 4.

The fact that Haulcy was ejected and the BYU player who was also ejected missed the 1st half of the Alamo Bowl was not exactly some super secret information. So one of a few things happened:

1. LSU knew he was likely suspended and just didn't say anything hoping to play him then play dumb, or semantics, to get him through the Clemson game and deal with whatever fall out came later

2. LSU didn't know he was ejected for fighting in his last game until Wednesday...which is unfathomable given LSU employees like 75 coaches/support

3. The NCAA just, forgot about it...until they were remined yesterday.
