it's not unethical to conduct a murder investigation. again, why should they care what collins' job prospects are if they think he would be very helpful to their investigation?

Johnny football wasn't connected to a murder investigation. The public and NFL tends to frown on murder more than being a drunken coked up douche.
I think you're missing the point. Any LSU fan who watched a TAMU VS LSU football game could tell you Manziel wasn't going to be an NFL QB. He wasn't good enough against a defense like LSU had to make the plays he made against other teams. And as a prototypical QB, he didn't have the arm. So when he goes to the NFL, what made any GM think he could do it against even faster, smarter players? Yet there he was, taken in round one. I'm not saying you don't draft him, but FFS, 1st round? What I'm saying is if somebody took JFF, and somebody took Tebow, somebody is going to draft La'El unless he is literally arrested today.
So translate that to a player who has no questions about his ability to play, and is one of the top 2 players at his position. A guy who has had no off the field issues in four years at LSU, and was the top lineman in the SEC... you can't tell me he's going undrafted, I think I might have an aneurism and y'all will be rid of me for good if he ends up a FA.

They could not be so public about the request for a meeting, therefore not totally railroading the kids ability to get drafted high.
for all you or any of us know that was intentional to try to get collins to come in and interview. he may have been shutting them out prior. and we still have no idea if collins did have any involvement. too many people are assuming he didn't because they like him as a football player. fact is none of you know yet you want to assume it's just BRPD and ESPN screwing the kid over for a news story

You guys are ridiculous, read what he said. He said nothing wrong with consulting with an attorney, Hey I agree with him, if I'm innocent I may consult with an attorney, but I going in and clearing my name asap. If while I'm being interviewed I see things headed in the wrong direction then I lawyer up. He is not making himself look good by not going in quickly and clearing the air. That is the perception and the investigator is thinking the same thing. Just my opinion and it means nothing.

BRPD didn't make it public.

You're an idiot. Catch up. The police aren't ready for him.

Smearing a young mans name might not be illegal, but it should be against ethics. I guess some people arent concerned about that.

Again, ethical behavior is very simple.

most people are not smart enough or experienced enough to recognize when this is happening, thus the need for an attorney from the get go

BRPD didn't make it public

If there not ready for him then why ask him to come in. Why make a big deal out of it at draft time. I guess I am an idiot when it comes to that point.

The only fact that we actually have is that this would not be the first time, or the last, that BRPD and ESPN ran with misinformation to grand stand against an athlete. Again, I have deferred to his involvement when this whole thing is said and done, but if he is 100% not involved then BRPD went about this very poorly. ESPN, well what else does everyone expect, theyre trash.
Posted on 4/30/15 at 10:59 am to latiger89
"not ready for him"... this just doesn't help paint the picture of brpd not actively thinking that he could be a possible suspect...
Posted on 4/30/15 at 11:00 am to ell_13
anyone on this board with any confidence in the BRPD is crazy. somehow it became public that they wanted to talk to him, now they are not ready. they had to know he was being drafted, why even bring up his name if you are not ready to talk. why even try to contact him if you are not ready to talk.
all the brpd has is something like a relative told them that its la'el child and la'el argued with her in the past.
if they could figure out a bar fight without a month worth of drama then I have no confidence in what they are doing.
