You don't understand reporting. Shefter, along with other execs, have known this for days. But he releases it the day before the draft because that's his job. And they didn't originally hear it from the BRPD.

it is really shitty timing to have to deal with all this ruining whats to be the best day of this young mans life.

Shefter isn't in the business of making someone sad or happy. He's in the business of maximizing the effect of information. He timed it for his own purposes.

The officer just clarified -- the police and Collins have resolved to schedule the interview after draft, which is why there's no date/time.

You seriously think the BRPD called up an NFL exec and said "hey, guess what?" Knowing that they would pass it on the Shefter?

"not ready for him"... this just doesn't help paint the picture of brpd not actively thinking that he could be a possible suspect...
if they've already filled their schedule with other interviews, that could lead to their scheduling him at their next possible time.
Gumshoes, what has happened here is tha La'el left the draft to come down and take care of this as quickly as possible because of the speculation going around. Now, he's here and he/BRPD can't meet till Monday. So now the score is that he's missed the draft for nothing. But in all likelihood, being there would've brought more attention onto him, so maybe it's better he's not there.

I've said all along I don't personally believe he did it. I just am not so blinded by my love of LSU that I irrationally blame the judicial system, law enforcement, and the media for doing their jobs. I also realize that my personal opinion on his guilt means basically nothing given we know very little about the facts of this case and have no idea why or what the police are going to talk to Collins about. This is why so many people ITT are out of line in their anger. They are having a hard time seeing past the fact that Collins is a former LSU player, the NFL draft is tonight, and he was projected as a 1st round pick. Again, as I've stated numerous times, the timing is very unfortunate, but it's no one's fault except for the one responsible for the death of a 29 year old woman. That's the only person anyone should be blaming right now.

Explain to me how else someone found out Collins would be interviewed?
Posted on 4/30/15 at 11:07 am to tigerskin
Yea just seen the news update on the time line to be questioned. Real shitty on their part. If it could wait until draft was over they should have never let it out that they wanted to speak to him. Thats horrible that they have done this to him.

there are no signs either way

He was a person the police wanted to talk to. From early on. Not sure I can say why. So how would a police department get in touch with him do you think? Jesus. It's not that complicated.
Posted on 4/30/15 at 11:10 am to ell_13
So you are saying that the BRPD leaked the info? Or you are saying Collins did? Those are the only two options really
Posted on 4/30/15 at 11:12 am to lsupride87
It's not like they had his fricking cell phone number. Sent him a text. Shot him a FB message. Those two parties were not the only two with the information that the police wanted to talk to La'el.
Posted on 4/30/15 at 11:13 am to ell_13
Who else had that info then? I really don't know.

Let them speak for themselves.
I see standard legal procedure.
The police are investigating, and his legal counsel is advising him. That's all anyone truly knows.
