The OP indicated ULM wouldn't turn down $900k from LSU. They certainly would if they can get more than that from another school, which recent history shows they can.

Sure. But I'm looking at it from an LSU perspective. If LSU is going to have to pay for a rent a win regardless, they may as well pay that money to subsidize other in-state programs who aren't fully self funded.

Playing two a year is monotonous.

Is it less monotonous to play Chattanooga, or Rice, or North Texas, etc.? None of those games are intriguing. At least by playing in-state teams you may draw more people to the game. I doubt a ton of fans from out of state school are going to spend money to come to LSU and watch (what should be) a big loss. However, folks from Monroe, Lake Charles, Lafayette are probably more willing to make the drive to BR to watch their team play.

Yes, it's less monotonous to see us play Fresno State, Rice, N texas, Chatanooga once every ten seasons than to play Mc Neese, ULM etc. every other year.

In fact we don't need to be playing teams below our level like Mc Neese and the others. That's ludicrous.

We should play Tulane, La Tech USL and ULM in a rotation. That way you'd play all four after four seasons.

All the other La. schools are below our level and we don't need to play them.

ULM is a good program to prop up. Their presence in FBS hurts both ULL and La Tech.

Viator is going to have ULM looking good in a year or two. May want to get Northwestern for 700k

What are you talking about... only one team was paid above 1.4 million and another 5 above a million; all other 1million or below.

We already have McNeese in 2021 and we going to pay 1.4 million to ULM that is just a 3hr bus ride away. Makes no sense. ULM probably would have taken less and we shouldn't have 2 in state teams the same year.

ETA: Hell, give me Kent State for 800K so at least we get to say "Hey Saban, we beat the shite out of your alma mater!!"

You typically have to offer just over what the university would make from a home game

Well, 900.000.00 in 2017 would be about equal to 1.4 in about 5 years.
What UAB get in 2013 ?

Chattanooga - given free tickets
Syracuse - I actually made $5
Troy - given free tickets
Auburn - $35
Arkansas - $15
Texas A&M - $10 for section 302 (pretty proud of these)

They're getting $1.35 mill to play at FSU this weekend.

Why are we paying them more to travel a 2.5x shorter distance?

your best possible response is to stop buying season tickets! I went to all six home games this year for FIFTY DOLLARS total, and you can too!
Tickets are numerous and cheap outside Tiger Stadium on game day, but many just don't want to hassle with all that.

Plus, they want that guaranteed seat to the Bama every other year.

Some just like to play "Status W" by bragging that they have ST's.

If yall feel like throwing your money away on that yearly god awful out of conference schedule and TV day games, go for it. More power to you. It's no longer something that I'm going to do....................

Thanks Joe!!!
That has ex-LSU football player Verge Ausberry written all over it. They have to give him something to do. (And he's not very good at it)

The only Louisiana schools that I'll pay to watch play LSU in Tiger Stadium are Tulane, La.Tech and Southwest Louisiana Junior College at Louisville.........
