No you didn't, you're just a biased homer like most posters who claim they "always knew". I don't even take you seriously.

Saban teams also always struggled with running QBs (see Manziel vs Bama) which is the means by which he was effective in that game and had already shown his effectiveness running many times before, we knew very well he could run. He didn't become a 1st round draft pick because of his ability to run. He became a 1st round pick when he demonstrated he could make reads and make throws downfield.

Daniels never took off until he started making throws and he never consistently did that until the 2024 Heisman year.

The biggest myth on this board is that Jayden had this crazy overnight 360 transformation. He was very incredibly disrespected in 2022 when after the bama win he actually gained some dark horse heisman buzz. 2023 the offense got much better around him and another year of continuity. Denbrock and BK took a back seat and let Jayden Daniels play free. Half our offensive production was Jayden scrambling for free yards. And when the defense started tightening on him he would throw deep balls to Nabers and BTJ. Yes he gained confidence, yes he made quicker reads and decisions. But the Brian Kelly nuthuggers spinning it like one little off-season with the QB whisper turned him into this all world, heisman, ROTY, pro bowl player is fricking NUTS. The guy has ALWAYS been an elite talent. It’s all the same idiots that were lobbying against him in 22’ and early 23’. “He can’t make reads”, “too small”, “he’s just a runner”

You’re a fricking idiot.
This was on Jayden and nobody else dumbass. Kelly pushed him to where he got to. It was well documented.
Don’t try to dump on Kelly fricking a-hole.

Kelly talked all that year (2022) about teaching Jayden to trust himself and even said publicly interceptions were part of it, that the important thing was to let it rip instinctively. He preemptively gave him permission to throw INT's which I though was different from a coach. I was impressed at the time with his comments and it sure paid off in 2023. Jayden is, indeed, a special kid with a special skill set and super-super high psychological makeup.

Do some people on here just crawl out of bed every morning cussing and attacking people?

Doesn't seem like a very productive or happy way to go through life.

I agree. After the first game and loss that year, it appeared that JD was just going to be the same indecisive thrower he was the previous year. But the light came on in the 2nd game and he was a completely different, and awesome qb and thrower the remainder of the season. That game against Fla was probably the greatest game I have ever seen a QB play.....JB had some great games but he had some help. JD had virtually no help in the offense against Fla that night. I was mesmerized sitting in the stadium watching it all.

ng on the field with Brian Kelly before the Tennessee game (in 2022), and Tennessee came in, big favorites, and they wound up blowing out LSU in that game,” Todd McShay recalled.

That was also the game where on a play that JD tucked it and ran rather than throw it downfield and BK got caught by the lip readers hollering "Throw the fricking ball!" after the play...

This is also why I had little confidence in JD going into year 2 that he would get over this hesitation problem. Kudos to JD and the coaches to get right with it.

No, they did not take a back seat. They had to force him into seeing good things happen. Once he did, he lost that tentativeness and exploded. I mean it’s obvious from the quote in the OP.

I agree about the Florida game. The play where he dropped to pass, then ran for a touchdown, weaving in and out of Florida defenders was absolutely incredible, and he made it look effortless.

This is a ridiculous argument. Daniels’ elite talent was obviously there, but he lacked the skills that harnessed that talent in a way that fully turned him loose. When a player changed after struggling with the same deficiencies for 3 full seasons of starting at QB, something changed. And we know directly from interviews with Daniels how much he thought the VR training in the offseason before the 23 offseason helped him read and process faster.

Sloan should be getting most of the credit for his jump being his position coach, but it’s fricking ridiculous to say the staff deserves no credit for his improvement. That’s pushing an agenda. Kelly and Sloan have plenty of flaws, but they got handling, building up and improving Daniels, especially in the mental side of the game, right.

Okay, I went and pulled up the replay. The first play in that game was like an 8 yard hitch route to the split end. I was expecting an aggressive throw.

A more glaring example came later in that game. I remember it because a YouTube show broke it down after the game and pointed out what happened.

We had a 12 personnel play with only one route- an outside go off play action. It was clearly set up to force Daniels to throw it deep and he got a one on one matchup they were looking for. He still hesitated, ended up holding the ball, and tried to run. I think he got sacked. You could see it right there on tape- he just didn’t trust it and hesitated. We all saw that many times that season, even as he improved on the short and mid-range passes.

I believe the Florida game in 2022 was the first game where Jayden really turned the corner here. He was firing the ball downfield and finally playing and passing the ball with confidence.

His 2023 season was unreal.

A lot of us LSU fans were saying that in his first season at LSU on the Scoreboard during games. Anyone can see his special ability and talent, he just wasn't getting the damn ball out of his hands to the talented LSU receivers. I played ball and I'm sure some of you posters have. We kept saying why does he take off and run so much. Why isn't he trusting his WRs and throwing the ball more.

He would take off and run I guess when the primary receiver wasn't open instead of going through his progression or reads. When he started doing that more towards the end of his first season and in his last season, he became Jayden Daniels. Letting the ball go much more going through reads and trusting his receivers much more, and running less more.

Jordan Palmer runs among the best QB training in the country. Below is a short YouTube clip of him discussing Daniels.

2019
5-5 ASU, with FR Jayden Daniels at the helm, beat 9-1 #6 Oregon who was led by Senior QB Justin Herbert. Oregon would go on to beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. ASU beat FSU in the Sun Bowl. Herbert would be drafted #6 and win NFL rookie of the year. He also won the Campbell Trophy and was MVP of the Rose Bowl. They finished #5.

He threw for almost 1,000 more yards and 23 more touchdowns on 61 less attempts.

Yards per attempt went from 7.5 to 11.7 and he was still more accurate, going from a 68.6% completion percentage to 72.2%

He also nearly doubled his rushing yards per carry, from 4.8 to 8.4

That's a pretty big "transformation".

He really turned it on after the Florida State game in 2023.
