We just flat out couldn’t lose this series. Don’t see how we could make the postseason now and without a postseason berth I don’t see how Mainieri can keep his job.
It’s time to fire up the coaching changes board.

Question is how long does the new staff get to rebuild?
A major rebuild isn’t necessary. They get 2 years to develop a pitching staff after losing Marceaux, Hill and Labas this year.

Besides Labas, Marceau, and sometimes Fontenot; I don’t think any of our pitchers are SEC ready right now. We lose the three I mentioned, and no doubt some of the young guys eill improve, but to compete in the SEC you need three starters and several relievers.
Our pitching staff has a long way to go after our two starters snd Fontenot.

There is a shut load of potential on this pitching staff waiting for the right coach to polish it up. I don’t trust the current staff to do it but it can be done.

We could have had we swept UK.

Agreed. Alot of these arms have flashed potential, they just need a competent coach there to develop them.

Fontenot brings his gas can to the mound every freaking time he closes now. He’s been playing with fire all season and he got burned. Marceaux and Labas are the only dependable arms on the staff, period! As bad as Mainieri is, Dunn is much worse. When he’s not developing any reliable pitchers, he’s busy ruining their arms. And to top it off, once again, we averaged less than 3 runs per game for the weekend. The entire staff needs to pack up their shite and get the hell out of BR

Yes, start the new coach search now & get the jump on the Ags, who will certainly get rid of Childress this year.
Oh my goodness! What will we ever do? We won't be able to hire a good coach to replace PM because the Aggs have SO MUCH MONEY they will outbid us and get a great coach and then probably pay off all the prospective coaches we might want to not come to LSU. They are so rich!! Woe is us. And the Aggs will just continue winning all the SEC championships in all sports like they always . . . Oh wait, they don't win championships except in track & field and the biggest of all their sports, Spikeball.

There is only one.
There is only one solution.
There is only one solution to what ails da Universata uh LSU's.
TIM & KIM.
KIM is ready to go right now.
TIM will have to wait until after the season.......

Lmao the melllltttt is real
I'm not sure why you think this is funny.
I've met the guy and he's super nice. However, I'm not married to him. We have ONE SEC series win and it wasn't even a sweep.
We've been passed up by freaking Tennessee baseball. This was a huge series and we should've won at least game 2.
Mainieri has always had a habit of leaving a pitcher in way too long and then, OMG, we have to get someone in the bullpen warming. Wait until you get into a huge hole, then try to fix it. Don't do it beforehand.
He has a lot of talent on the team but there's no guidance. Him or Dunn. I'm tired of hearing this, "we're young" BS. When are we not young? Because in 2 years, those 'young' guys are juniors (if they haven't gone pro). We're always going to have young players. That's a given so spare me this "we're young" garbage.
I'll be fair, he lost Hill, he lost Beck but I don't understand why he goes through so many pitchers in one game. Where's Dunn on his pitchers? We went through Blake, somebody else, Hilliard (why pull him?), then someone else, then Edwards, then Vietmier (sp?), then someone else. I mean geez. None of the pitchers have a chance to get into a groove.
It's insanely frustrating to watch.
That's the reality of it. There is no "melt."
I don't see him being fired during the season but he should pull out all the stops and do something instead of doing this and that and changing pitchers every inning and then in the next game, you don't use hardly any. It's just odd at this point.
He should just resign after this season. I mean this is awful to watch.

Come on guys! Have some faith. We might win 20 out of 21 games and still finish 18-12 in league play. Pawl will be great again. How can you not be encouraged with the play in game 3 today?
Posted on 4/18/21 at 8:28 am to Rouge
He will be the coach next year.

Everyone including Paul knew this. Yet, in the post game press conference Pauls something along then lines of ......giving up 2 in the first took the wind out of our sails.
So give up after one inning?
I have said it for while now, teams follow the coaches lead. And Paul has no energy to lead any longer. Hopefully he realizes this, or someone can convince him of this truth.

On what do you base this thought?
Four seasons of diminishing returns is what I base my opinion on.

Probably his contract and lsu’s budget issue because of the pandemic
