Both would be great hires....as would Petrino, Fedora, Bulemia, Freeze among many others. I wanted the best coach we could get.

Remember: we fired our coach for having a crap offense - and turned around and hired a d line coach.

Why the frick are y'all even fans? If all you can do on this board is bitch and complain and not back up the man that was chosen as our coach then you need to go find another team. Some of things I've read are ridiculous. Real LSU fans would be happy because our PLAYERS got the Coach THEY wanted. All you negative people ain't fans.

See you in a year or 2 when you are ready to fire coach o.

Make no mistake about it, Les was not perfect by any means. But when you fire a guy with the record he has you DAMN WELL BETTER make sure its an upgrade. Coach O is not and that is my biggest issue.

you dumb frick, did you say the same shite last year when they carried miles on their backs and wanted him back?

players will almost always want the same guy coaching them up bc it's who recruited them there and the last thing they want to have happen is to have a new regime come in and learn new shite.

you think the Texas players loved Charlie enough to get him back?

Good point.Unfortunately some of our fans are stuck in 2007.. They don't think about how O was handed 2 train wrecks and was able to turn things around drastically without being able to change personnel OR offensive/defensive schemes. They see this as a negative because he won with "other people's programs." Forget the state the program was left in when he took over and the limited resources he had to turn things around RIGHT NOW. None of that matters.. The only thing that matters is Ole Miss. And we didn't try to land Fedora, Gundy, McIntyre, Taggart, insert personal preference here..

They don't even think about the many levels that this plays right into our hands.. win-win.

We get a coach that loves LSU and Louisiana who has learned from the best in the business about coaching after falling flat at Ole Miss. He was so serious about winning he took notes and implemented some of those strategies during his interim jobs. If he fails, there's no financial burden to consider during our next search. Not to mention he will recruit his arse off and we'll have talent for the next guy. As a side note, he's more open with the media and doesn't keep things "close to the vest" or "under his hat"

The best part is there are probably around 10 young coaches loaded with potential.. just like Herman.. who needs a few more years to prove themselves. If O fails we'll be able to pick one without having to worry about finances or talent.

IMO this is much better than "settling" for a Fedora, Gundy, etc. with big contracts and huge buyout clauses.

I ask because you talk about discipline. I can't say how Herman is but Jimbo is NOT tough on discipline. The way he allowed James to talk to him on the sideline(not to mention off the field stuff) showed his players don't respect him. Besides that, he just wasn't the answer.

The players mostly have IQs below room temperature. I don't think they need to be making multimillion dollar coaching decisions

Truth. Unfortunately, the same thing cab be said of a lot of our fans, whose voices were taken into account in respect of this decision. It's pathetic.

that is going to become MUCH worse divide with O

They had a coach they wanted last year as well... So you were 100% behind Miles?

The program was in a bad state from a morale standpoint, not talent. O provided enough of a spark to get the guys up enough to snack around some much less talented teams. Commendable? Certainly. Miracle worker? God no.

I simply don't understand the bouquets you people are throwing his way, O did not beat one good football team, not one. It really was just a perfect shite storm in the conference for this to be done.

I'm good with O for a shot; if the running back had went the right way re Florida and scored...it'd be a lot different. We need a top tier OC with a commitment to get MOBILE quarterbacks. That is a virtual axiom in today's game. Given that, I'd love to see the underdog beat the Top Dog; we almost did this year...but for Their/Saban's mobile qb.
