quote:What a Brian Kelly fluffer you are. So after New Mexico, Southern, and UAB we should be an automatic 3-0. Auburn was pretty trash, and we should have pulled out at least one of FSU and State, which we did. So that is 6 wins there. Did you honestly think we would lose all 3 of FSU, State, and Auburn???
I made this post for retarded comments like this. The fact that we have a chance to go 6-6 this year is nothing short of a miracle.
That required a miracle???

QB - Daniels gives them the best chance to win. It is what it is.
Why? Because he can run? You saw yesterday what happens when teams don't respect our ability to throw the ball, and the fact that he threw for 300 garbage yards once the game was essentially over means nothing.

Nope. We suck. You do not lose at home by 27 points to the 3rd best team in the conference and NOT suck. We can change that this weekend, but at this moment in time, we most definitely suck.
quote:
This program is better and further along than anyone expected.
We have the absolute worst special teams in the entire country. We have an anemic offense that for some reason cant get in any rhythm and had pre-snap penalties on four separate drives. We had what was thought to be a stout defense that just gave up forty points. It wasn't all their fault however (See special teams above) as the coaching staff had an absolute horrid day of decision making. I thought we would be better. Not necessarily record wise, but more competitive. We are worse offensively than we were at any point in 2020 and most of 2021.
quote:
It’s a process, trust it
I still do trust it but that trust was diminished on Saturday. If Kelly fails to address special teams (as in relieve Polian as special teams coordinator, either privately or publicly, but that clown needs to be fricking stripped of ANY duties related to that job) and the pace of the offense going into Florida, that trust will be diminished further.
I do believe in his process and that we are better off on the whole at this point this year than last, but its obvious to anyone who follows college football, we took a step back on Saturday.

Plus got to get rid of a few assistant coaches.

This team has quite a bit of talent. The issue is they have an issue at the most critical spot, QB. I'm not sure if some fans are confusing separation with busted coverage but our WR's create separation quite often. However, JD oftentimes doesn't see them OR doesn't trust that he can make the throw.
The o-line has been decent before missing 2 guys against Tennessee. The problem is JD throws everything to the sidelines, with the exception of the occasional slant. He stays away from the middle making it easy to defend our offense. This allows defenses to play close to the LOS and there's not pressure on LB's or Safeties.
Just count how often teams send overload blitzes on 3rd down. Simply bcuz JD hasn't shown he can be a threat in the passing game.
Our RB's have no lanes bcuz again, defenses are crowding the LOS. When you have a QB that can run, you must committ to creating a scheme to utilize his legs. If not, you have what you see with LSU. JD takes off running on many plays where he should be passing the ball. Why do you think we have so many penalties? This is the same issue the Falcons had for years with Vick. As a lineman, you have no idea where to block your man into space because the QB takes off running and boom, you was blocking your man to the same area the QB ran towards. It also creates a lot of holding penalties because you pushing one way, the QB unknowingly takes off running and decides to go the same way and by the time you find where he's going, you have to hold your man so he can get by.
Simply put, JD is running on way more plays than the coaching staff is calling/expecting.
We have a QB in his 4th yr starting that doesn't have confidence, can't read a D, is nervous (resulting in lots of high throws), and has a low fb IQ. In the Tennessee game, he saw the D had too many men on the field but instead of calling for the snap, he simply pointed it out as if it was a penalty in itself. Tennessee simply called a timeout.
A lot of our problems are attributed directly to our QB. Funny how our WR group looked VERY good last year but all of a sudden they all "suck" now. LOL...yea, ok.
Our D is fine too. Just no way to consistently hold teams in the teens with an offense that can't score or even simply move the ball consistently so the D can get a breather before going back out. And Tennessee took advantage of it. Their uptempo was a match up nightmare for us.
Exchange Hooker for JD and all of a sudden, our team would look VERY different. It all starts and ends with the QB position.
Special Teams has sucked...LOL...No helping that.

Totally disagree as from the beginning this team was a 6-6 or 7-5 if things go well. The issue is unrealistic expectations from keyboard cowboys that have never played the game above junior high. EOS !!!
Posted on 10/10/22 at 6:21 am to hall59tiger
This board was full of people predicting 7-5 or pre season then when it looks like we might go 7-5 people start losing their minds

As BK said, "that's the group we have"
It ain't changing, but they can play better than what I saw Sat.

If we were going to suck, it would have been more palatable with Brennan as the QB.
I’m being serious, the more we watch Jayden play the less sense it makes that he was given the nod. With Brennan there was enough goodwill there that it would be one less thing to question Kelly on.
I don’t think Jayden is our worst problem, it’s just becoming more evident that Kelly made that decision without much actual deliberation and it makes you wonder how many more pieces of the alignment are basically gut instinct

Yes. If we trot out the team that played Kansas state then we don’t win an sec game this year.

We don't suck. We have talent but it isn't deep or evenly distributed across skill groups. We are going to have to be patient as we pull it together.
Prior to Saturday I felt like we had made real progress if not turned the corner, but obviously we still have a lot of work to do.
Too. Many. Preventable. Mistakes.

This is the whole point of my original post. We were severely overhyped from a talent perspective. If you objectively look at this team we are just not very good. Coaching hasn’t been as bad as people are making it out to be.

Jimbo is in year 5 and Kelly is in year 1. Big difference.
The big difference, Jimbo and Orgeron have won a championship.
Kelly is still a wannabe. If QB evaluation is important, Kelly will always be a wannabe.

What an absolute cuck statement. Talk to me in 3 years when TAF shores up the funds to show bumfrick Kelly the door.

If I'm buying top recruits like Jimbo has then I expect stellar results. If I'm Kelly and I'm trying to get Sunbelt or Mac players to transfer so I can have a second string....that's different.

Like one, the ball to Jenkins
No there were others. Boutte had one on the first series.

People are trying to push the blame on the WR’s when if JD threw “on time” a lot of balls wouldn’t be contested and be a lot more catchable.
People are right to blame a receiver who purports to be NFL material who doesn't catch a ball that hits him in the hands even if it is slightly off time. Boutte dropped the first pass thrown to him,. It was uncontested and if that was too difficult for him to catch no one should be talking about him being drafted. Here is a Youtube clip of the drop.

There is plenty of blame to go around so lets not absolve anyone.

That said, he can't be losing by 27 points and playing completely uncompetitive football. The coaching mistakes, the continued poor ST play and going down 13+ points again before scoring our first points is not acceptable regardless of our expectations of this team.
I agree with all of this and will also point out that his early 4th down decisions put the team further behind and in a bigger hole than they should have been. (10 point swing on stupid decisions.)
