Sucks to see Woodward stooping down to Culatto’s level
Agree with the O comment though, obviously

I know this is the internet and all, but for what it’s worth, you can be grateful for the championship he brought to LSU, while also acknowledging it was definitely time for him to go while also not completely shitting on O as a person
The absolute disdain for that man baffles me, and I gotta be honest, I only really get that vibe from TD. Talking IRL to LSU fans, they’re all pretty level headed about it, but here, some of y’all are just nasty about it

Not sure why. It’s been around for a long time. The guy never really had a great reputation, and that goes back way before his time here. I can also remember a time when the board consensus was that he should in no way be hired by LSU.

Meh. It’s well deserved to be honest. Look at how he left the program.

I agree with most of the comments and beside the w-l record you had a scandal to deal with. But I’m still surprised that Woodward felt the need to comment about something I thought was nearly healed.

Orgeron could have legit stayed at least 10 years or more if him and Kelly didn’t split. As previous posters have stated, Kelly kept Ed in check. Once she was out of the picture he started acting crazy off the field.
We can handle up and down records but the off the field stuff was the main reason he is gone. I am pretty sure he knows it.

I experienced this first hand with my dad after my mom passed. She was never an outspoken women but it was definitely eye opening to realize how much she kept him in check in terms of decisions he made, be it how he acted around people or his social media posts. When you have that balance and all of the sudden it's gone, it can get ugly.

That’s not surprising to me since he was one of the most controversial head football coach hires in our history and totally flamed out in a relatively short period of time.
Add to that his off the field escapades and the distain is pretty understandable. Having said that, most of my distain is saved for the man who hired him after a sham like search

seriously?
he has always had a reputation of being dirty, corrupt, and actually a pretty sleazy dude before coming to LSU. I mean calling Tulane's coach in the immediate aftermath of Katrina to poach players was stooping pretty damn low.
To me, it's more shocking that people were surprised that he turned out to not be role model material off the field and not a very good coach on the field.
outside of 2018 & 2019, literally his entire career pointed to this outcome.

Maybe because they're uncomfortable talking about it.
He's the face of the program and he's proud about his fricking around off the field while the university is amidst a sexual assault cover up.
It's more disturbing that anyone doesn't think he's a disgusting human being.

Don't forget that he dirty recruited the living hell out of LSU when he was at Tennessee and Ole Miss, the only reason he ended up at LSU in the first place is because his dead beat arse was out of a job and Miles tossed him a lifeline.

I think as fans we will never know the full extent of how bad Ed was after 2019.
I think this is correct but I also think you can get an idea from the book Meat Market by Bruce Feldman. It is about O's time at Ole Miss along with Frank Wilson and Hugh Freeze. I believe he pretty much behaved the same at LSU and Ole Miss.
Interesting read if you like sports books.

Yes
Many of our own "fans" didn't enjoy the 2019 season because they had their own head up their own arse.
The rest of us knew that was the year, and he would probably fall off after that. The women cried, the men enjoyed the ride

You're not a fan, chief.
You're here for the drama.

So, no link? If there were "many" supposed LSU fans that were miserable in 2019, surely you've got some kind of proof, right?

bullshite!
i don't know a single LSU fan that didn't enjoy the living hell out of 2019.
Everybody knew we were watching something special.

I suppose there is always the oddball out there, but personally I don’t know of any LSU fans who didn’t enjoy the hell out of 2019.
Fall off?? Yeah, like walking off a freaking cliff!
If all of us are going to be honest about this I don’t think there’s anyone who anticipated the overwhelming success of 2019 or the dismal failures after that.

quote:Exactly. And to say that he had no part in bringing that title is absolutely naive. Much goes on behind the scenes that nobody sees starting way before games begin.

Certainly Brady, Ensminger, Aranda, Burrow and many others played a part. O always said it was one team one heartbeat. Everybody played their part perfectly.
