Is that athletic budgets?

Because that’s completely irrelevant.

I buy into talent. The talent in A&M's class is insane.

If that was LSU's class, we'd all be talking about championships in a few years.

Problem for A&M is some if not a decent chunk of these guys will not play up to whatever agreement they have with the donors, so the donors will end up with negative returns in the end. It's not a sustainable model unless they're just trying to get 1 natty and hope it propels them into hype land. If it doesn't work out the people willing to pay that money will stop desiring to pay.

I get it but merks are still merks. If true there will be issues with commitment to the idea of team, sticking together when things get tough etc etc. We will see

Not just #1 one classes, but historic classes.

Why?

Chances are, it'll be wasted Talent.

See UGA's last five classes.

I'm talking about Championships in a few years without all that talent.

Ours is a culture of winning.

Theirs? It's a culture of 8-4feit.

This is the beginning of the end of college football. Money will absolutely corrupt the game and will cause problems we can’t even begin to comprehend right now. Yeah, yeah, I know players have been paid under the table forever. But now it’s legal. Oh, and if limits are set to “level the playing field”, the dark money will still get paid. They just raised the baseline.

It will fail. Remember the maturity of the athlete, their financial acuity, and the locker room impact.

At their ages fresh out of high school, it is going to take something money can not buy. LSU will be fine. A&M was nothing years ago, nothing now, and nothing in the future.

But they do have the fastest talking coach in the history of coaching worldwide.

It’s not in the Aggies dna to have a consistent winner. Nine wins is the ceiling

If the IRS starts to get involved in the NIl situation things could get interesting. I don’t see the NCAA getting involved unless it involves Memphis or Tulsa.

This.

The DOJ got involved with the basketball/Adidas matter which was petty relative to the money being thrown around here. The ONLY reason the DOJ got involved in basketball recruiting was it came up incidental to a completely unrelated criminal investigation. The SDNY US Attorneys office, who is ALWAYS looking for publicity, jumped at the spotlight…even though the convictions were just for petty shite.

Well, if you want some greater publicity here’s your opportunity to start digging. Yes, players can be compensated for use of their NIL. But I doubt everything that is being done is “legal. Far from it!

They need to start interviewing these players. It will be obvious some kinds came from nothing and now have a nice car. Young immature kids wont hide the fact they came into money. From there proof needs to be provided a servuce was rendered for said money. Should have a commercial, poster, signing session pictures or something had to be done to earn said money. I know yada yada yada NCAA is toothless but hell someone needs to be governing this.

I can’t imagine having that much money and/or spending that on a college football program. I love the tigers but I have a hard time spending what I do on tickets and stuff now, let alone dropping 100k to some high school kid. I don’t have f u money clearly so maybe that is why I don’t understand it.

Texas just floats in oil money and A&M is the closest school to Houston. They’ll buy themselves a natty before it’s over.

If you look at A&M’s top 5 recruits across their history, 3 of them are a part of the 2022 class.

I have to agree with some others in this thread, the talent will be enough for them to win. They aren’t gonna fall flat on their face.

I'm not worried as long as Jimbo is coaching.
His players never improve, they are the same when they finish as when they started.

I just realized that’s not some Joe Blow posting a rumor either, that’s their Shea Dixon, Sonny Shipp, Billy Embody, etc.

Come on brah, after that monumental season they had this year, wouldnt you want to run there also.
All that history in recruiting but a 8-4 season changes that trajectory.

They are paying it so they will no longer be 8-4

They'll hit 10-11 wins every odd year or so, but no championships. Remember who's at the helm of their program.

Changes will have to be made to NIL! It will have to be even across the board, almost like a salary cap. If not this will be out of control.
