This was the difference in the game.

Just turned on the game to see women’s basketball for the first time in years. I forgot it’s equivalent to watching 8th graders…
“After confirmation of JD5’s return and discussing its implications with my coaching staff, I’ve decided to pass on a second season of squandered opportunity for the most talented receiving corps in the nation.”
LSU’s home record is 26-9. They’re 10-7 on the road.
Nickelberry has sounded completely incompetent as a head coach at every opportunity he’s had to speak. His game management seems to be following suit…

Smoke ran Skip’s system. I know because I played for both.

For whatever reason, this seems to be a very unpopular take although it's hard to find evidence to refute it.

Sorry I didn't see it.

Skip as AD

None of Skip's major hires (with the exception of Smoke) met the standards or adhered to the principles he built the success of his baseball program on (The guys who played for him or members of his coaching tree know it as "The System"). Why would he abandon those standards and principles at the AD level...

Skip made hiring decisions based upon preserving his legacy as the best coach (across all sports) in LSU history. Prove me wrong...
As a former player, I have the utmost respect for Skip as head baseball coach.

That being said, Skip hired Miles. I've heard the story he tells in Baton Rouge interviews, but Skip understands the value of having a system (e.g. The Gold Book), the psychology of success, etc. and certainly recognizes those skills in others. Why he dropped all the standards he held for his players and staff when hiring the football coach, I'll never understand.

And I don't want to hear about 2007... Skip understands process and those who know Skip, Saban and Miles, know one of those guys isn't like the others, and it's obvious out of the gate. But don't take my word for it, just ask Alleva.
The fact that the SEC doesn’t have a team from North Carolina and Virginia grates my OCD.
A robust solution can’t be designed for one set of circumstances that occur in one specific year. A robust solution is designed to work for any potential scenario every year.

All Power 5 Champs and 1 Group of Five Champ deserve a bid to minimize political/off-field influence and to provide all of FBS something to play for, eliminating the potential for another UCF “national championship” claim scenario.

Adding two at-large bids serves as the perfect catch-all for other potentially deserving teams including, of course, independents.

Having a team or two too many some years is far better than having a team too few.

I do think all Power 5 Champs and 1 Group of Five Champ deserve a bid to minimize political/off-field influence and to provide all of FBS something to play for, eliminating the potential for another UCF “national championship” claim scenario. Adding two at-large bids to create a field of 8, which provides independents access, shouldn’t be a stretch. Having a team or two too many some years is far better than having a team too few.

That would be the story... but does anyone believe their fate should be decided by a poll rather than a chance to compete on the field? It’s not their fault a schedule made years in advance turned out to be weak.

This Season Under the BCS System

Imagine the injustice of having to choose only two teams “worthy” of playing for the national championship this year...

re: Marcel Brooks fully arrives

Anyone know why he’s not on the depth chart this week?
Geyser Point at Wilderness Lodge, which is a dedicated short ferry ride away from Magic Kingdom, is where we watched the Alabama game last year, and it was awesome... except for the game itself.
Is it just an oversight that Brooks is not listed on this week's depth chart?

LSU vs. Georgia: Depth chart notes and stat pack
Including all Power 5 Conference Champions makes the regular season most meaningful, which has been the argument for a limited/no playoff since before it existed. The entire regular season is required to crown a confernce champion, and it minimizes the corrupting off-field influences.

Add the top Group of 5 Conference Champion to give all of FBS something to play for (no more UCFs claiming their own national championship) and 2 at-large bids, and you have a postseason that accomplishes the stated goals of everyone involved.

For those who think a field of 8 is too many, remember the Patriots' regular season record last year before winning the Super Bowl? Or LSU in 2001 that improved dramatically over the course of the season? In sports, it's far better to include one too many than to include one too few...

I've yet to hear a cogent argument against this format.
All Power 5 Conference Champs, The Highest Ranked Group of 5 Conference Champ, 2 At-Large Bids.
For what it’s worth in terms of easing your conscience, adhering to bureaucratic rules, or not, has nothing to do with morality... despite what the government or regulatory bodies would like you to believe.
