Where do you think the program was when McMahon was hired?

As many know I’m very close to this staff. They’ve said out loud this is a tournament worthy roster. I think he’s a capable X&O’s guy. He knows he needs to bring more energy and he plans to with this group. I’d be very disappointed if we don’t make the Dance.

It HAS to be the year of McMahon otherwise what are we doing with a guy who misses the tournament 3 years in a row. Simply shouldn't be acceptable here.

I think rebounding is going to be an issue for this team again

How do you figure? We added a top 75 player that’s 6’10, a JUCO kid that was a Baylor commit that’s 7, and Collins coming back hopefully healthy. Chest can also get in there some. I think we addressed the rebounding issue for the most part. We were missing athleticism down there.

The Sec is light years better now than when Brady was coaching.

This is not an excuse for a coach of the basketball program in an athletic department like LSU's, it's an indictment. The money is there, go fight for your piece of the it. That's part of the job now. Plenty coaches at SEC schools having to do the same and succeeding.

I don't know why ya'll even engage with this dude. He's a contrarian. That's his shtick. And he revels in your down votes.

Steady progress next season is what we needed.

I think he makes the tourney next year.

This past campaign was somewhat of a surprise, improving from 2-16 SEC to 9-9. No one expected that, and they appeared to have turned the corner late in the season with back to back upsets of the Gamecocks and the Cats

Yet other coaches did it in year 1. I don’t buy this excuse.

Both things can be true at the same time and I think that's the ultimate truth here. CMM took over a challenging situation, but there are areas where he could have done better even given that situation.

I personally think TPK is too stupid to be intentionally contrarian. LE is more the contrarian imo.

TPK just latches on to a coach and that’s all folks. Everyone has seen it multiple times with him.

Is it? IMHO not only is it not light years better, I think that it being better at all is highly debatable. And I'll debate you on that if you wish?

The poster child for setting low expectations as quickly as possible.

Yes, and then lost in the NIT at home against North Texas in a not so close game.

He does have a 20-year contract, so he got time.

Seriously, I do joke on CoachMc, my fellow MBB fans know this.

I think a reasonable expectation this season is improving on the 9-9 SEC record from last season and making the NCAAT - seeding disregarded. Most of us just wanted to make the NCAAT every 3/4 of 5 seasons, with a deeper run on the right year. And that has been since Brady+

I think a better team than we were last year can finish worse than 9-9. But ncaa tournament should be the measuring stick. We performed very poorly out of conference last year. Do better this year and 8-10 can land us in the tournament.

Both seasons have been inconsistent. consistency is what I’m looking for, even if the ceiling is a little lower. McMahon has to prove he can run a program at the high caliber player level. This years team should be on the bubble unless we have major injury problems or we have an All American type of player who will carry past the good side of the bubble.
