Listen people, maybe 10% of the fan base TRULY thought O was the right hire and the answer to LSU‘s problems.

Let’s not start this revisionist history thing where most people act like they thought LSU had the hire right the whole time and want credit for supporting him since day one. Because there are very, very few of those people.

As a matter of fact, the popular opinion among MOST fans was “Oh my god what is Joe thinking, he just fricking destroyed this program. I hope we’re all wrong and this works out, but I’m pretty sure it won’t. Let’s start looking for the next candidate.“

Those of you who choose to down vote this obviously can do so. But the vast majority of Tiger fans out there who claim to have always had Ed’s back are full of shite. Let’s be real. And the whole purpose behind this topic was to call y’all out for being full of shite. Because this entire board was full of nothing but melt when he was hired. Including myself.

The bottom line is that it’s a great story, and the 90% of us who rolled our eyes at Joe Alleva for the hire were wrong. And we are all thrilled to be wrong. Let’s just be honest with ourselves, cut the bullshite and leave it at that.

There’s not a wave of people lying and switching their story, the majority have happily said they were wrong.

We are;

3 years down the road
13-0
Heisman QB
Best offense in SEC history
In the playoffs

Why does any of that matter now?

This is 100% true. I saw very little, if any, optimism regarding his future at LSU. More people wanted him and Alleva fired during the off-season before his first full season, right after he was hired, than people who thought he’d be successful.

I’ll be honest, I was one of the doubters, but only if he stayed with the 1980 offense, as far as the right fit, they couldn’t have done any better , he realized what he had to do to be successful and to keep his dream job and went and did it, for that I give him all the credit in the world, I actually love the way he interacts with the players and how emotional he gets after a great win,, I’m excited about LSU Football again and hope we see a lot more.

I've only been banned twice.

One of those times was when O was hired.

I melted...HARD.

I always knew he could recruit. USC showed he could coach other people's players. Since I knew we were never getting Herman or Jimbo (THANK GOD!!!) I thought he COULD do it at LSU if the stars lined up and they did. I suffered through the 90's, so I knew he was better than those clowns.

I don't think it was 90%. I think you had 90% that thought it was a terrible job by Alleva. And the hiring process was a disaster and a terrible job by him. That wasn't a reflection on what people thought about Orgeron. That was a reflection of how people felt about Alleva rushing to hire Orgeron after he got turned down by Jimbo and Herman.

I think you need to separate out those two thoughts in your mind. Someone could think that Alleva did a terrible job in the hiring process (lack of interviews, letting things leak to the media/public, etc.) and still think highly of Orgeron.

Stop being negative. Just enjoy it.

I expected some interesting insight into the process of why O was chosen based on this title and instead we get more angry “call you out” BS.

Where have you been? This has been pretty much the theme of this season on the rant.

Since I knew we were never getting Herman or Jimbo

****************

Just a FYI, Jimbo's contract at T A & M is Fisher's contract is for 10 years and worth $75 million.

Hey, a million bucks a win? GOOD JOB. Wait, it gets better:

If Fisher is fired without cause, A&M would owe Fisher the entirety of his remaining contract and must pay 25 percent of it within 60 days. He would also keep the full buyout if he takes a new job afterwards.

**************

* 1 * Championship as a HC. In the same division as LSU and Alabama.

Just like with Saban and just like with Miles. The vast majority of fans of any team isn't going to like a hire that doesn't sound like a slam dunk. It's until they show their true worth do most people come around.

You can bet Alleva never expected this when he hired O. Many of us continue to believe it was a lazy hire that ended up paying off right on time.

I was very skeptical when he was hired. But you also have to look at what he replaced.

I didn’t care who replaced miles, but I knew it had to be someone.....quick.

So I wanted Herman/Fisher but was just happy when miles went. So I was 50% happy with O.

I was standing on the porch of a cabin in the Ozarks right after Thanksgiving when a buddy of mine came down the trail and said "It's O."

I was livid.
