When offenses spread, they get smaller and faster. Defenses have to adjust and get smaller/faster. Now offenses will get bigger and stronger and run it up their arse. Then defenses will have to adjust.

I think it has less to do with your position than wanting a running game with a pulse. No?

I know the Oline is the popular punching bag, and it’s somewhat deserved, but there are other issues with the running game.
Durham has been bad. He’s not patient enough and is causing some of the issues himself. He’s too quick to put his nose down and just get a yard or two when the blocking is actually working open a lane.
If they’re going to stick with the zone running scheme then Berry and Ju’Juan need to see more touches. If they want to start lining up with a deep back, either I or single back, then Durham and Jackson can be your thumpers.

The crew did a great job showing this in the game Saturday. For such a low tier game, I was really impressed with their analysis and ability to point it out as it was happening and showing the hole opening after he made his cut. Thta was one of the better in game analysis I've seen and it came from Jordan Rodgers. He's upped his game recently.

Yeah I noticed it a couple weeks ago when I was arguing with someone about our Run Scheme and rewatched the Tech game, but didn’t realize how bad it was until they went through it.
There are yards out there that Durham is missing out on because he’s abandoning the design too quickly.
ETA: All of this has actually made me soften my stance on Sloan a bit. I don’t think he’s great, but he’s not as bad as it’s looked.
Durham has his role, but I just don’t think it’s as a lead back in their scheme. It’s time to take the training wheels off of the younger guys because they’re the game breakers LSU needs in the backfield.

Can't help but smile everytime I think of how much this place would melt every time the I-Formation was run out under Les.
It wasn't because of the I-Formation. It because under Les we wouldn't throw it at all. Play action didn't work because there was no threat of a forward pass.
But yes, it is funny to see fans now wanting it back.

I have seen at least a couple dozen comments saying we need to use the I-Formation more heavily. Can't help but smile everytime I think of how much this place would melt every time the I-Formation was run out under Les.
The problem with Les and the I-Formation he hardly every had a QB that could throw…when he did it was fine…we he didn’t the box got stacked…

The problem was he neutered his OCs. He’d cut the playsheet down to 12-15 plays per game even eliminating shot plays completely. He himself even said he didn’t allow audibles.

The rant has come full circle since Les. Calling for more I-Formation
I do not want the Les Miles offense back. I would however not mind if we stopped trying to be a zone running team which we clearly can’t block and can’t read.

Good luck finding true full backs in the high school ranks this day and age.

not to a pass from a run. nor from one pass to another after making a pre snap read. only from a pass to a run.
he did allow JJ to check into runs AT TIMES. see that TD run by chuck scott at UGA in 2009. checked into that run.

Open to being wrong here but this is so far from my perception. The game has never been more offensively focused nor more concentrated on shotgun. I don’t watch much NFL, but what I do watch is virtually all shotgun.

Still prevalent in college but is shifting rapidly in the NFL.

loved the wishbone.
flexbone also is good if you know how to use it.

He correctly understood LSU could still beat almost every other team with just running, defense and special teams.
He also opened it back up once he got a qb who could throw (Mett).
I personally think Miles would have thrived with the portal... he stocked the roster everywhere but QB, and he could go find someone who wanted a loaded team

Exactly, why not both?
Because power run game and spread require different mentalities. Very hard to be really good at either if you dabble in both.
