But what’s ASU’s resume? 2 losses in a 2nd rate conferences?

I know this was set up before the Big 10 and SEc ate 2 of the other P5 conferences but it’s silly to give Boise a bye playing in the Mountain West

Division winners make the playoffs over better teams in the NFL regularly. And get home games.

There's no perfect system.

Exactly. This locks in conference champs and as someone else said, gives you a few picks to throw bones to the winners who aren't the best but won the conference. A lot of the march madness (men and especially women) and even baseball regionals has complete arse kickings in the first weekend. If you want to be the considered the best, win your conference.

I just wish they would get rid of conference championship games, and bring back the BCS computers to have a computer model to pair with the human model on who the best teams are to fill out the rest.

If the 12 best teams are from the SEC, then that's who it should be.

For the long term health of the sport they have to have a “National” Tournament. A lot of people simply can’t grasp this.

Alabama vs Clemson was getting stale as hell and the ratings were plummeting.

They increased to 12 for one reason, and one reason only - They want more eyeballs watching.

You have to have teams from all over the country in order to increase interest and viewership.

This will be the last year that the SEC doesn’t get at least 4 teams in. Moving forward, the SEC will get 4 in every year. In a 12 team tournament, 4 from one conference is more than enough.

You have to go with the most deserving 12, not the perceived best 12. Yes, several teams that didn’t get in would destroy smu, Az state and Boise. But if you’re gonna just crown the perceived twelve best, then stop ranking teams and start ranking players. The 12 teams with the best player average get in. That’s essentially what you’d be doing. May as well cancel the regular season.

I agree that schedule has to matter, but then you bring into play arguments against teams like Texas that didn’t beat anybody all year. Their resume isn’t a whole lot better than SMU, but nobody argues they shouldn’t be there bc they are Texas- they recruit well and are in the sec.

The fairest way I can think to do it is two things:

-bring back conference divisions to lessen the chance of any team in a strong conference getting an easy schedule.
- use the bcs to pick the top 12

I'd much rather be arguing about 10,11 and 12 than 4, 5 and 6. This is better.

They need to go back to the BCS system for picking the teams. It's obvious that the playoff selections are more about which games will generate the most buzz than the best competition.

Agreed....but the playoffs are still awesome.

They will adjust the systema and get it better, I hope.

Somehow, they need to g=figure out how to get the best 12 in.......people will bitch because that will include too many SEC teams.

If you're going to do 1 ACC, 1 Big XII, one G5, five SEC, and four B1G you're better off cutting it to 6 teams.

Which is better. It's also less money so it'll never happen.

The difference is the NFL has a systematic schedule, and all teams play a more balanced schedule. Until college football has balanced scheduling, the 12 best teams should be in, not the 12 teams with the most wins.

They are going to have to give added weight to quality wins.

Yea this is stupid. It's been messed up but they really don't seem to be fixing it. CFB is heading the way of NBA, NFL, and the rest of sports you get tired of watching. As an ole boomer LSU fan I can see the handwriting on the wall that will mess up CFB.

NCAA had to make a system to help the lesser conferences from collapsing so they guaranteed them a spot in the playoffs! Pretty obvious that they don’t want a super conference to rule and break away.

I have no problem with the 12 teams but the seedlings and byes are terrible. Fix that and we would be fine.

Biggest challenge is the reign in the transfer portal. One transfer with no issues, any further transfers means you sit out a year.

NiL: has to have a limit to payments to a player and player must play all games and must buy his way out if he transfers.

What else are they supposed to go by without the teams playing each other?

Of course not. They're designed to make powerful people more money.

How would you seed them? Based on what? Rankings? If that is the case, then the rankings should never be released until the final week of the season. Too many times preseason rankings carry too much weight. Penn State is always ranked high but can never beat anyone good ( like OSU).

What would be your 1-12 seeded teams?

How do you determine the “best” 12?

There has to be a balance between resume and strength of schedule and other factors.

If we wanted the “best” teams… they may as well not even play the games and just say the teams with the best cumulative recruiting rankings are invited to the playoff.
