Not even that unless you consider winning a weak conference or winning the championship game in a weak conference the most important factor in a resume. What is even worse than the teams they let in is the way they are seeded.

Regular season has to matter. Nobody wants to see 6 sec teams every year

Division winners make the playoffs over better teams in the NFL regularly. And get home games.

There's no perfect system.

Complete opposite of the argument they used to make sure Bama got in last year.

This is so dumb. Boise State going to get asses kicked as will ASU also.

None of these teams could even beat a mediocre LSU team.

I’m ok with having acc representative but Clemson did not deserve a bid even winning acc title game

Clemson is the bid stealer

Agreed....but the playoffs are still awesome.

They will adjust the systema and get it better, I hope.

Somehow, they need to g=figure out how to get the best 12 in.......people will bitch because that will include too many SEC teams.

None of the 4 teams who played so far deserved to play for the national championship.

This is why 12 teams is too many. Usually there are 3-4 who deserve it. Everyone else should be bowl teams.

In the SEC, you are almost guaranteed to be in with 2 losses and a damn good shot to get in with 3. BK just needs to do his job well and LSU should get in. We’ll see!

The main event is tonight! Tennessee has the best chance to get the first upset of the expanded playoff.

That’s fine.

It doesn’t need 12 teams in the first place.

Probably between Texas, Ohio St, Oregon, or UGA to win it all

They gave 3 auto bids to teams that definitely didn’t have the best resumes. That’s part of the reason to have 12 teams though, so you can waste a few spots throwing bones to conference champs and still have room for every legitimate contender.

Beyond that, I would dispute the notion that SMU had a better resume than Alabama or SC. They lost to the only ranked teams they faced. If they had faced as many ranked opponents as Bama and SC, they would have had at least 3 losses.

I’m not going to say the system is perfect, because it’s not. But don’t bring Bama into this. They may have a better win than teams that are in, but losing to Vandy & Oklahoma is just not acceptable. Those two teams would have struggled to have a winning record in either the Big 12 or ACC.

And the one thing that has bothered me with all of this strength of schedule talk, why is no one questioning Texas. Their best win was Texas 8&4. And their 2nd best win was Florida. But again no one is saying they should not be in.

Correct

Remember when people said Tulane should have been National Champions?

Remember when central Florida or whoever they were said they should be national champions?

Everyone wanting this nonsense will be the same people complaining about it

That’s what happens when you have to pick 12 teams when there aren’t 12 teams deserving of competing for a championship. You get teams with favorable schedules that sneak their way in with an 11-1 record, or you take an SEC team that lost a quarter of their games. Neither one is appealing to me.

Vandy’s inconsistency (losing to Ga State) leaves some doubt, but they did beat a .500 ACC team in VT. 5 of their 6 losses were to teams in the Top 25 in the computers. All 6 of Oklahoma’s were. It’s very difficult to say they would have struggled in weaker conferences when they played such difficult schedules.
