I've lived in AL -- years ago -- but long enough to know that in that state, you're either Bama or War Eagle. Therefore, both programs, fans, boosters, even state politicians - do WHATEVER it takes to make their program better! You add Saban to the Bama mix, and whala -- you have a dynasty.

LSU has absolutely no major rival in state -- just a few pockets of "minimal LSU resisters" (Tulane, ULL, Tech etc.) --

So there isn't a polarization -- i.e., two sides fighting for dominance -- like in AL.

LSU also has too many "cliques" that want something for themselves -- in order for their major support --
There are too many BOS, state politicians, boosters, etc. - that do NOT WORK TOGETHER --- to make LSU unstoppable.

This is evident in past coaching searches with BOS, Boosters, etc.

It wasn't until Emmert arrived, that he said -- "I'm going to do it my way and pick the correct HC" -- that LSU took off.

LSU fans, boosters, state politicians, and the BOS have got to all be on board with the goal of creating the dynasty -- and put their egos away.

Then, LSU will dominate consistently!

You made some good points and a lot of what you said is true but Saban is the only reason you guys are ahead of everyone else right now and nothing else.

I'm a diehard LSU fan in Alabama and every preacher, teacher, bum, kid, lawyer, redneck, fireman, etc. Is a gump or aubie and talk about them all year round. They definitely support their team also turn on them hard when they do bad. Cant stand them but hey I been living here since 1986 and the hunting is good hahaha

I was thinking the same thing. People seem to forget that Alabama won ONE national championship from around 1982 to 2007. We're actually in much better shape than they were. We've won three in 17 years...........with THREE different coaches.

LSU and their fans want it that way. Louisiana's state government since Huey P. Long always wanted it that way. Unchecked resource access to whatever they want in a football talent-rich state. Such inner-state control should give a significant advantage to LSU over many of their SEC opponents.

Louisiana will never have that dynamic of inner-state P5 rivals/matchups like you see in most other states.

It's a lot of luck too

Saban fell in Bama's lap after RR turned gig down.

They were on a shitty run of Coaching hires post-Stallings.

in the 80s Bama was 85-33 with 0 titles
in the 90s Bama was 91-31 with 1 title (1992)
in the 2000s Bama was 79-50 with 1 title (2009)
in the 2010s Bama was 124-15 with 4 titles (11, 12, 15, 17)

what changed from 2009-to today?

Truly enlightening. While you're on a roll, professor, tell us more about the Dubose, Perkins, Curry, Shula, Kines, Franchione eras of Alabama Football and doing whatever it takes to make the program better.

If Saban isn't in the picture, this only works to their detriment. Alabama is a talent-rich state but nowhere near what Louisiana is. It's the difference between two kids fighting over a toy versus having an only child who gets all the toys

Politicians in LA have more influence but they generally don't sacrifice the good of the program for their own ends...consciously. We do however have a tendency to latch onto unqualified administrators who are either too stupid or too arrogant to realize that they are not the smartest person in the room. We are here because of bad, impulsive hires and organizational mismanagement.

Hopefully, that is changing with SW. The hire of the current University president gives me little hope that we aren't back to the old ways though
