FSU is paying 100m to do what we might do

Id guarantee he'd stay if it was a 52 million dollar payment but the fact its yearly makes it easier

The problem with just buying new players is the fact that we have no one remotely gualified to coach them up.

Offer another 1.5 million to match Baker's salary and LSU will have it's pick of the litter at OC. Pony up another 250K on top of current salaries and the offensive staff would be stacked.

Not defending Sloan but you do get what you pay for and apparently he was picked up in the bargain basement bin.

Just wondering here but what is the return on investment for the people or entities funding all of this? The administration goes to the top say 7 boosters and ask for a commitment of 20 million each - covers the payments now and yearly along the way for the extended buyouts. What do those entities get for their 20 million? Do they get paid back with interest at some point? I know that is what an AD is supposed to do - raise funds. But at what point do the people with the money stop giving because they are getting nothing in return and the reason they are getting asked for multiple more millions is because the guy asking is the one that perpetuated the situation that they are currently in?

Yes. And far more importantly, he had to use his “due diligence and good faith” to mitigate those damages. So much so that LSU specifically has the right to require Kelly to submit any documents they need to determine whether he’s being paid market price for his new job.

So not only does Kelly have to take the Va. Tech or Colorado St. job if offered, he has to do so at market rates.

Kelly can almost certainly get a job making $4 million a year next season, maybe $5 million given how many openings there will be in December.

So even that monthly payout isn’t likely to total anywhere near $9 million per year.

Why it’s never going to happen. Money is better spent on buying talent the next 3-5 years

The money isn't "better spent"...you just have to spend less, which might be better (easier.)

But Brian Kelly was an experiment. With the right coordinators, things might could have been different.

Unfortunately, the experiment failed and things are what they are.

We'll likely have to spend a few more years before we can afford to get out of this.

Yea a lot of people are missing that the 53M is broken out over years so it’s not 53M up front. Same with the new coach we could sign him to a 100m contract but only like 11/10 or so is due per year.

It is much more manageable to fire BK and pay over time assuming he didn’t offset by getting a job

Not our problem. We didn’t hire the incompetent coaches.

You have to
1) Know talent when you see it
2) Coach up the talent to NFL level

Can BK do either any longer?

Right, I hadn't thought about that. So subtract roster costs and the price tag to get a new coaching staff is closer to like 25-30 million. They raised half that for the portal alone last year...

Hell no! Frank's RB rotation sucks. No way he gets to screw up the entire offense worse than it already is.

You act like the cost is a one time expense. In tis case you double the HC cost for the next 6 yrs which robs the program of money to spend on quality.

This is like saying I am going to replace my 4 yr old denali Tahoe with a toyota camry but by god I am gonna get rid of that dam Tahoe…

If those numbers are correct it adds more fuel to the fire.Coaches getting paid that much money and team not showing much improvement and losing the only 2 games against a team with a pulse on the schedule is nothing short of Throwing money away.Yet after the season ends TAF,NIL, will keep asking not only the wealthy but also average season ticket holders for more money to throw away with this staff.

You see those offensive salaries? LSU/Kelly is going to have to pay double that over the next year or two. Any coordinator and offensive line coach worth their salt is going to realize LSU is desperate to save Brian Kelly’s offense. You will have to pay Sloan and Davis to go away too. Any new offensive coordinator will want big investments in player as far as NIL. Rebuilding this offense over the next 2 years will likely be in the tens of millions.

Wouldn’t there be a buyouts/penalties for the new staff when they break their contracts at their current schools?

Now do the analysis of incremental revenue of a successful program vs those that are not.
