The latest information gathering 1 week b/f our Tigers suit up against Clemson is that LSU will be able to play the ex-NFL players next Sat. The regular season seems to be setup w/o any penalties. The rub is when it comes time for 12 team playoff selection. The early projections are that LSU will be 10-2 or even 9-3 w a solid shot at top 12 based on strength of schedule. However, you can bet your sweet arse if we are in the mix with any other teams for that 12th spot that we are screwed - just like ND in 2025.

The other argument (as I'm sure some of you are thinking) is that LSU will be very, very, very good with the new pieces to the puzzle and go 11-1 or 12-0. That will get them in the playoff and probably a bye in round1.

I think that about covers it 1 week away from kickoff. Should we play these guys or not?

Wrong. We are must see TV and they couldn’t keep us out if we were on the bubble.

This is ignorant. I was shocked (and pleasantly surprised) that they left notre dame out last year. Yes, they should have but I didn't think they'd have the balls to do it.

Therefore I could totally see them thinking they're making a statement by leaving us out.

But whatever, let's deal with that problem when it comes.

I don’t 3 losses. But the people paying the bills won’t allow the CFP committee to miss out on LSU’s viewership and dramatics.

With the most recent things being reported about the SEC and NCAA saying they will comply with the court orders, this is my only concern right now.

As such, within the SEC

If they are eligible and can help the team win games, yes.

If there's even a hint of foul play, LSU and other teams with these players will sue the shite out of the CFP and either add them to the existing case or file a new one.

ex-NFL players

I wonder if they call the guys who don’t make it through selection and return to their infantry unit ex green beret

Dae'Quan Wright Spent 4 weeks working out with the eagles, and 13 days working out with the browns and neither wanted him.

This ex-NFL description is gas lighting the average viewer to believe LSU paid players that should be in the league to stomp on college kids. When in reality these are college kids (younger than chambliss) that aren’t good enough to be NFL players.

It’s a backup TE… Our starting TE is the NFL player. He would be on the browns roster right now if allowed by the nfl

When it's done many teams will have players that returned to college on their teams not just LSU.

Yeah I hate to agree with you. But if you watch a Saints game, I don't think they've had a call go in their favor since Sean Payton called them out so badly on the Rams no call. Bounty gate, etc. I'm usually not a conspiracy theorist but felt like for years there was an attempt to punish the Saints on the field.

I've already wondered the same thing. It will open the door for the NCAA and the SEC to find other ways of Retribution. Whether that will happen or not I don't know but yes you're right on playoff berth, calls on the field, in the old days I would say fighting for a bowl spot for LSU, etc. And this type of bad blood can be long lived, even past the point when the actors involved are gone.

Maybe it's nothing burger, and I'm not going to be looking for a monster under every rock, but it be interesting how those two organizations handle LSU going forward with the things they CAN control.

CFP can catch a TRO too. It’s comprised of an SEC AD and other conference presidents/AD’s.

Please explain how notre dame not having the resume to make the CFP compares to this situation.

Please explain how notre dame not having the resume to make the CFP compares to this situation.

ND was one of the top3 "hottest" teams in the country at end of season. Miami and Indiana were on serious winning streaks as well. Their last loss was in week2 to playoff-bound AtM. They beat the crap out of the remaining teams on their schedule. Resume was worthy of serious consideration.

However, they are NOT in a conference and Miami got the nod b/c (IMHO) they are in a conference. Situation seems relevant to LSU should there be other teams in mix for playoff. Saving grace could be (as mentioned earlier by another ranter) that other teams will do same thing as LSU. We'll see. I like the consensus to play them. LSU is leading the way once again. Legally we seem to be fine.

Another point was made about suing the CFP committee. Kind of like suing a jury on a murder trial verdict. Everyone has an opinion and its impossible to determine legally what they were thinking. I do think changing up the selection committee members is a good move.....

Before we became darth Vader, thanos, and Jenny Gump all rolled into one, we doubled their viewership.

LSU is now must watch TV. People don’t go to movies because of the heroes. They go for the villain. Without a really good villain, your hero is just a pussy.

Technically, the SEC isn't a subsidiary of the NCAA. That didn't keep the judge from requiring them to explain why they aren't another bound by the same TRO.

I suspect that the CFP, if it were to demonstrate such a bias, say, in the in-season rankings, could be enjoined in the suit.

Let's say LSU plays Wright and wins the first four games. The the judge rules in favor of the NCAA and Wright can't play. LSU then wins the next four games (our schedule being backloaded) without him.

If in that scenario, if the CFP were to leave LSU off their rankings, arguing they have four forfeited games, there would be a route for LSU to draw them into the fight under the same reasoning applied to the SEC.

The CFP could head off such a problem by ranking LSU properly in the hope we lose late games. Only by winning out could LSU either force the issue legally (likely unsuccessfully due to mootness) or make the CFP look foolish,

Anyway, that's how I see it: the CFP is tied to the NCAA like the SEC but they have some time on their hands.

The irony of this statement is lost on the sports media world. Many of the national media people who are "outraged" over "ex-NFL" or "professional" players returning to college have no issues with men playing women's sports.

The only people that care about Notre Dame anymore is 85 year olds and people from South Bend.

They made it up to ND by gifting them a permanent playoff spot.
