You don’t think the staff know the safeties suck

Well it was absolutely abysmal but Gilbert is still on the team and we have yet to sign an actual safety so i sure hope they know.

I’d be shocked if he doesn’t end up at Miami.

We are bringing in S from USF for a visit. Maybe some guys in the playoffs enter the portal after this weekend

Finally some real corners idk what these guys we had were

Alexander is a damn good CB. We just never had a guy close enough to put on the other side to compliment him.

Stamps and Woodland aren’t outside corners and both were pushed on the field before they were ready and took a lot of lumps. However, they could both be much better moved to Nickel and/or Dime and playing with better guys on the outside. Have you guys forgotten how rough Flott and Ward looked early in their careers?

Obviously it was a fricking retarded move that bit BK in the arse pretty hard.

Hindsight is what it is and I’m glad Raymond is back and recruiting well again. But we all know the program culture was rotten here O’s last two years. Maybe Raymond had little to no part in it, but he just had one guy quit on the season and transfer to a rival (when that wasn’t as common as it has become the last 2 years), and then another got in trouble just going to (or not going to) fricking meetings and didn’t make it to Spring. Let’s not act like the CB room didn’t look like a problem. I’m sure the optics didn’t help him. It’s not like a new staff has a lot of time to make those kinds of decisions.

The number 2 CB in the portal would definitely transfer here just to change position. You’re right.

This. Need to get back to having versatile badasses in the defensive backfield.

My prediction that Stamps won’t see the field next season

We need at least 1 good safety, maybe 2. Then I'll feel great.

Begs the question- Why wasn't Raymond retained by Kelly when he was hired?

Begs the Question., Why did he get let go from Florida????

Corey got lazy and wasn't recruiting and demanded a boat load of money from Kelly. Florida offered $250k more a year. Florida then realized after only one year with Corey he wasn't worth the money with is lazy attitude.

Corey got humbled.

Now he is back to working!!!

Whatever happened, Raymond is back to vintage-level recruiting. If he keeps doing what he’s doing, we will be in good shape going forward.

According to people in the know because Kelly wouldn't meet with CR in a timely fashion and UF swooped in and took advantage. I doubt LSU even countered.

I can confirm this is true

Well, Raymond WAS fired by Florida a year ago, so there's no hiding that.

My guess is that Raymond isn't some A+ secondary coach; he's a decent coach on skills, specifically man coverage. He's got good contacts in Louisiana, but maybe struggles to recruit outside- meaning he can bring 1-2 guys into here, but when he wasn't based in La his recruiting declined.
Raymond needs to be in Louisiana.

Gonna contrast that to Bo Davis, who seems to get good players and results at DL no matter where he is.

The Florida CB, and DJ Pickett do not come here without Corey Raymond. Do you see who we were in the running against for Pickett?

According to the experts, four years ago, Raymond and the other O coaches had lost their Mojo. Probably not a Coach in LSU history that has had more of a positive effect on LSU football. He has continuously recruited and coached some of the best in football.

Good recruiter, terrible on field coach. I’ll say that until I’m gone. And he didn’t build DBU, go look at the rosters and commitments in the 2000’s before he came. Those recruits were from the previous coaches. Aranda covered a lot of shite. He wouldn’t have hired a safeties coach if Raymond was all that hot. You know the guy that brought in Burrow.

Raymond was there to recruit.
